This week I've heard/read more racist, sexist comments about Condi Rice than I've ever heard about a human being before.
Please post those comments/cartoons here so we have a single source.
I will write letters to the editor and call to those organizations who have been involved in these disgraceful activities.
You should have been around for the Clarence Thomas conformation hearings. This ain't nothing yet.
I have seen Dr. Rice in person a number of times (she and I worship at the same church in Washington), and she not only has a very attractive physical beauty, she has an inner beauty that makes her all the more attractive.
...yeah, and the Leprecaun, O'Reilly, suggested that Clinton should get the job! CLINTON! The serial lech,BUBBA! And that's supposed to be an intelligent choice?
Al Franken should just be taken out!!!
I find this cartoon to be hysterically funny, as it's the Washington Post equivalent of a kid spray painting "teacher stinks" on the side of the gym.
My Lord! This is what Rush was talking about. I looked in my op-ed section of my paper to see if it was in it and if it was they were going to hear from me! Keep on keeping on you sorry slimeballs (Liberals).......you're making the case for what you really are. People are on to you and your ilk. It's just a matter of time.
Thing is, there are legitimate objections to Condi's confirmation as SOS. They'll all be lost in the racist sexist melee.
Personally, I'd prefer a more seasoned diplomat in that office. Could be a more seasoned black woman, if there happened to be one. I'm not convinced that Condi has the depth to take on the world's biggest baddest sleaziest most entrenched cretins like Chirac and Khoumeni and Annan and whoever ends up ruling (?) the crazed Palestinians.
Many questions should be brought up, but inevitably, apparently, the mean-spiritedness of the Dims and Presstitutes has once again polarized the issue, making intelligent debate impossible.
Someone should notify the press. They may yet get the message. Last night's ABC-Jennings news covered the Marine in Falluja situation with three panelists, two of whom were big supporters of the marine. And PBS aired the shooting but also provided context by showing a few minutes of coverage of that unit the day before, taking fire from all sides, getting wounded, etc. Both ABC and PBS were much more fair and balanced than ever before. So perhaps we can really make some progress.
LOL!
I can't believe I'm seeing and reading this vile, mean spirited garbage about a truly fine American woman who has worked her arse off for more than half her life, and who now serves ably in our government. It's just more than I can take.
Well, get ready, because it will get worse. Wait till he nominates C. Thomas to be Chief Justice!!!
The aluminum tube cartoon does refer to the tubes Saddam tried to buy. The TEXT, I believe, is a take off on Gone with the Wind.
I have an idea: we could all send congratulatory notes to Dr. Rice telling her that we're proud of her.
If this racist, sexist hate speech were published about a Democrat, there'd be rioting in the streets. Hate speech is NOT protected under the First Amendment.
I will fight to the death to defend your right to put that idea forward, but if you'll remember, that's the same thing they said about President Bush.
***I work for a university and we don't use "Dr." for anybody but the veterinarians in our publications. Not even the president (notice the lower case "p"). In fact, most people, including most of the Ph.D.s, think that the people who insist on the title are generally insufferable snobs.***
OH? Try leaving the title of professor off a professor's name and you'll be looking for a new job. It's taken for granted that most people who have a position of any importance in a univesity have a doctorate. Dr. Rice is NOT employed at a university, and therefor her title becomes important to indicate her education.
"Not to put too fine a point on it, but academia has lost so much of the public's respect that most people are really not interested in its pronouncements on protocol."
Actually you missed the main point of my post. In academia, the "Dr." is in fact frequently used. Particularly if it's an academic poublication.
My point was that the media is not referring to her as Dr. Rice because the style book the media follows says you use "Dr." only for medical doctors. Kissinger might have been called "Dr." on some talk shows or in an op-ed situation, but not in news stories. As far as the media goes, she's being treated the same as anybody else -- titlewise, that is. Part of it is simple practicality -- if you use "Dr." with her name, then you need to ask every person you write about if they have a Ph.D.

God
