Kerry run in '08 called conceivable
Boston Globe ^ | 11/09/04 | Glen Johnson

Posted on 11/09/2004 3:18:03 AM PST by kattracks

While Senator John F. Kerry is "profoundly disappointed" with losing his presidential race last week, it is "conceivable" he will run again in four years, his brother and political confidant, Cameron F. Kerry, said yesterday.

[snip]

Former aides said they have received conflicting answers about whether he might wage another campaign. One, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Kerry told a top campaign official he could not envision another run. Yet that same adviser attended a farewell party for Kerry's staff Saturday night in Washington and said Kerry told the crowd, "There's always another four years."

[snip]

Such a run could pose a dilemma for Kerry: His Senate seat is up for reelection in 2008, and talk of a presidential campaign could spur challengers from both parties and force him to decide whether to seek reelection or run for the White House. He also would undoubtedly face Democratic challengers for the presidential nomination, including possibly Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and his recent running mate, Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.

[snip]

The former aide said Kerry plans to work closely with Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, who is expected to replace Tom Daschle as Senate Democratic leader, to form the "loyal opposition" to Bush. He also plans to revamp his staff and meet this week with Senate and former campaign aides to plot strategy for his political reemergence.

I think it's about as conceivable as Hillary and Bill having a baby.

The thought of seeing that Night of the Living Dead face on TV for the next four years gives me the vapours. Yetch. Bletch. Retch.

Look at the bright side. Soon Kerry will be so botoxed up he won't be able to move his mouth.

Kerry is a has been. Let's watch him try to get over on Hitlery. It will be amusing for a while. There must be a decimal point in his 120 IQ. Like 1.20

I would suppose that when John arrives in the Senate chambers, the most appropriate non-partisan comment would be:

Hey John! Why the long face!!!

I am certain Kerry will never run again, including running for Senate. He was too tired for this run, he is a whiner at heart and seems to go through the motions with no heart, and his wife was a liability

The thing is, Senator Kerry is kind of droll and dull by nature, and Theresa gives him some spark and humor. I really don't like the trashing she got...she's a good, outspoken woman who has lead a remarkable life. The Rove-esque nastiness of the campaign was unfair to a lot of good people.

In four years, the Dems will have to someone who ennumerates the issues and has a sound-bite answer for everything. Besides that, it's just possible that Senator Kerry is having too much fun being a billionaire's husband to be locked up in a big, white house.

My feeling...I have all of the concerns about Kerry that most people do. But, I think it's a sign of intelligence and an ability to solve problems to change positions with new data. Also, he is very gracious, and that is a trait that would really help at all levels of the political debate.

Kerry has already forgotten that he was the Dem nominee only by default.

Dean's meltdown and the Party's ABB (anybody but Bush) by default gave the nomination to Kerry. Kerry did not earn it based on his outstanding record of accomplishments nor personal charisma.

And it is doubtful that even the Dems want to go through another Presidential campaign based on Kerry's even more questionable and clouded 4 months of service in Vietnam, by 2008, 39 years ago.

Kerry got clobbered. His campaign was in disarray. He ran a stupid convention. He picked a nobody as VP candidate who ended up having ZERO message, zero constituency, and zero debating skills.

Clobbered is what happened to Carter--Mondale and Dukacis

Winning by taking ONE state ain't clobbering

Check out the electoral college vote and % for Reagan and Bush's father( first time ) That is clobbering
BTW don't forget to add Nader's vote to the left column

Barbarians are still at the gates

This article refers to some group apparently called "Democrats". What's that all about?

286 to 249? Is that right?

More than one state, but that's not your point, and you have a legitimate point. Clobbered means a decisive loss to me, and the Pres's victory was decisive.

Assuming Gore/Bush numbers of nearly equal means a tie, then this victory was 7 times more convincing that that tie wherein Gore had a 500,000 vote advantage (probably closer to equal.) The Bush victory this time is about 4 million votes....7 times higher than that plus/minus 500grand tie area. I've read this past year that an electoral tie is not possible if the poll margin is 1% or greater.

In football, I'd call it 2 touchdowns and a field goal.

I think they used to be known as the "loyal" opposition.
That's no longer true.

Yes, bring Kerry back for Act II -- the SwiftVets will have all the data about his OTH discharge by then and he'll be an easy kick to the gutter!

Only a delusional person would be so blind as to suggest this is a viable plan. DemoRats are NOT kind to their past losers and the far leftys will want somebody who truly represents their values next time, not a flip-flopper!

Let's recognize that the guy only lost by 3% of the vote. Even with clear knowledge of his crimes, past and present, the Democrats in this country still voted for JEffinK in the millions. And consider that his rival, the Skank from NY, is touted as the "best candidate" the Democrats could field in '08. The main thing I try to remember to keep my thinking clear is that about half of the "good people" in this country are absolutely, stark-raving, nuts!

It doesn't matter what Kerry thinks. What matters is what the clintons think. They run the Party.

Hildabeast will be the candidate in 2008. We had best start readjusting our sights for that eventuality.

Then how would you describe Reagan and Bush's wins
Super Super Clobbers ????

Just like every other misused phrase in life

Certain sports figures were STARS
Then it got watered down so much it had to become SUPER STAR then even that was misused and now we have MEGA STAR

It wasn't a CLOBBERING
