Kerry got clobbered. His campaign was in disarray. He ran a stupid convention. He picked a nobody as VP candidate who ended up having ZERO message, zero constituency, and zero debating skills.

More than one state, but that's not your point, and you have a legitimate point. Clobbered means a decisive loss to me, and the Pres's victory was decisive.

Assuming Gore/Bush numbers of nearly equal means a tie, then this victory was 7 times more convincing that that tie wherein Gore had a 500,000 vote advantage (probably closer to equal.) The Bush victory this time is about 4 million votes....7 times higher than that plus/minus 500grand tie area. I've read this past year that an electoral tie is not possible if the poll margin is 1% or greater.

In football, I'd call it 2 touchdowns and a field goal.
