As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads. I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .
The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion. Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

I was thinking about the Vietvets this morning but I was thinking about John O'Neill. That man went on so many programs, just to be called a liar and be treated so disrespectfully, but he always stayed calm and replied with class.
The SBVTS and POWS for Truth have not only worked hard, but they have opened wounds for all to see, and it would be so terrible if Kerry could pull this off anyway!!!!!!
Lets all keep them in our thoughts and prayers today -- it must just be agony for them.

Gil James got up early to vote to re-elect the president. The 62-year-old retired teacher said he considers both candidates flawed, but could not support Kerry.
From the Voter Turnout in NJ Thread.
"Bush is more real," he said after casting his ballot at the Moose Lodge in Point Pleasant, where a steady stream of cars made it seem like one of the lodge's legendary Sunday afternoon barbecues. "I just could not vote for a man who is a habitual liar.
"I don't agree with everything Bush does," he said. "I don't agree with everything my friends do, either, but I pick them because I trust them. That's why I picked Bush."
If this is any indication of what is to come...this will be a blow out for W! Imagine, A TEACHER IN NJ VOTING FOR W AND DESCRIBING HIS FEELINGS WHY USING LOGIC!
What is this world coming too? (Cats & Dogs Living Together....MASS HYSTERIA!)

Voted at 10:00 this morning in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Very heavy turnout. A lady in front of me in line asked the man in front of her if she needed her voting card. He told her that the poll workers knew her and she wouldn't need it. I tapped her on the shoulder and told her "not in this election". But, I told her she could use her drivers license. We still have to sign our names by our printed name in the poll registry. Sure enough, the poll worker greeted the lady by saying "Hi Mary, can I see your card or drivers license?"

Good to hear the turnout is good....hope we can get Burr into the Senate to help with conservative appointees to the federal bench and the upcoming USSC positions that will most likely come into play.
Loved the bumper sticker too!!
You live close to Halifax? Just curious .....have only made it through your county around three times.
Not sure how old the youngest is but if 3,4, or 5.....your child may learn from a young age the importance of our civic duties.

I voted and there was a huge turnout. There are 2200 who vote at my church. I was 713 and there were still people standing outside. I talked to the lady who was standing by the ballot machine and she said this was much larger than the last Presidential election. We are leaving in a few hours to drive down to B'ham so will not be able to watch the returns until we go to the motel. If I am not able to get internet service, then I will check back in when we return. Hubby is having knee replacement surgery early tomorrow and he will probably be in the hospital for 2 nights.

.45MAN and I voted this morning in Palm Beach County, FL. Luckily, things were pretty quiet at the polling station except for the two sKerry supporters (one older female, one older male) waving signs in our faces as we entered.
I turned to the female and said, "No way!" She said out loud, "Vote Kerry!" Again, I repeated, "No way!" The man politely asked if we had any questions about the amendments on the ballot. The woman said, very loudly, "Oh, they're *Republicans!" Meaning, I guess, that we shouldn't be helped - or maybe that we shouldn't vote.
I turned to her and said, very loudly and very proudly, "That's right - we're *Republicans*."
There was a lot more that I *wanted* to say, but I refuse to get into a battle of *wits* with an *unarmed* person.

I agree. I just find a certain irony in those liberal officials who would decry any religious symbols in public places and then turn around and ask churches if they could use their facilities when they don't have enough space.

I voted two hours ago in Franklin County, Ohio. Huge turnout. It took 55 minutes to get to the machine, but would have stood in line all day for this one. In my ward, the last several elections have had wait times of only 5 minutes or less, at that same time of day.
The MoveOn guys were outside, but they didn't say a word to me. It was raining, so I didn't stop to...chat. Why ruin a good day. I voted for Bush, and the School's PTO had excellent munchies at their bake sale. Mmmm, Baklava.

No, I'm on the coast - Wilmington, NC. (We live in the county outside of the city) The liberals are trying to infiltrate but we haven't made it easy on them. :) Ironically enough I used to live in Halifax county. That's where I got to be so politically active. My college instructor was a staunch Republican and ran for sheriff of the county. I was very involved with his campaign and I loved every minute of it! :)
My youngest is two and a half. He came with me to the voting booth but I couldn't go back in with my husband cause I voted earlier in the day so I took him out front with me and we enjoyed the company of the Republican workers. My oldest is in 2nd grade at the school that serves as our polling place and my middle is in K at the same school. It's a fantastic school - a lot of people from my church also work there. I'm very involved with our boys education because they are both on the autism spectrum and I want to know what they are being taught - regardless.
When the other two were younger they went with us to vote. Today the lines were very long and it's hard on my eldest to be in crowds so we voted while he they were in school.

Went to vote.
Standing in line, inside the High School auditorium, observing the long, snaking line, saw a guy in line wearing a bright yellow shirt with Firefighters for Kerry/Edwards printed on it.
My wife would not let me ask the guy to remove his t-shirt.
I spoke with others in line with me and we were all in agreement that he was outta line and violating the law by electioneering inside the polling place.
The polling officials were sitting up front with their backs to the line and did not observe this guy.
When the guy got near their table he removed the t-shirt (had another shirt under it that was unmarked).
He KNEW he was violating the law.
He then goes up to the table to sign in and handed the officials a small piece of paper.
The officials (both democrat and republican) confer and say they need more ID. He had an envelope full of papers and reached in and hands another piece of paper. They again confer and reject it.
He hands another piece. . .and so on and so on as he tests the system (all the while hoping he would be rejected therefore claim disenfranchisement).
Anyway, he eventually hands over enough papers and is allowed to vote.
Mind you, until then both the republican and democrat officials agreed the documentation he presented was insufficient.
Anyway, what is great is there is a fire department initiative on the ballot, asking for money to buy a new truck to replace the older truck.
Guess what?
Ill be darned if I will vote for a new truck for this hack. . . and all the other people standing next to me agreed NOT to support the fire departments request.
This RAT toady had no idea that he just cost his department a half-dozen votes. . .and in an area where our mayor won by 11 votes, this is significant. He likely cost them a new truck. I called and spoke with the fire chief. He was pissed that one of his guys would do such a thing. . .especially during a highly energized election where he (the FD) would want ALL support from everyone. His guy drew the line and was soliciting support from RATS only and that is not good.
(The current truck functions, but needs more upkeep. No safety was being compromised.)

I was poll challenging at a ELansing campus precinct. 4-1 Dem. 295 votes cast as of about 12:15. 340 counting those in line. This isn't that good. There was one dem challenger there taking down poll book names doing a GOTV effort(legal). One other GOP challenger there as well.
GOOD NEWS - I talked to my parents. They voted. 195 at 10AM. Line is OUT THE DOOR. - Livingston County in a 70%+ GOP precinct. I hope all of them there are like that.
More good news - EL's election officials at the precinct I was at did a great job. No fraud there, or any shenanagins.

Two thoughts: I just realized that I don't think there are very many people in USA that would have bet that we would be voting today, almost 4 years after 9/11 and not have had another attack here. God Bless Bush for that.
If I ever see another of those UGLY, YELLOW COATS, that Kerry is wearing, I might be sick. I bet is smells really bad by now.
