ABCNEWS HOLDS TERROR WARNING TAPE

In the last week before the election, ABCNEWS is holding on a videotaped message from a purported al Qaeda terrorist warning of a new attack on America, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The terrorist claims on tape the next attack will dwarf 9/11. "The streets will run with blood," and "America will mourn in silence" because they will be unable to count the number of the dead. Further claims: America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Al Qaeda.

ABCNEWS strongly denies holding the tape back from broadcast over political concerns during the last days of the election.

The CIA is analyzing the tape, a top federal source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Waziristan, Pakistan over the weekend, sources tells DRUDGE.

"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning.

The terrorist's face is concealed by a head dress, and speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual, but US intelligence officials believe that man may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman - a southern California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.

According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.

The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'

I think that they "may" be using the peso...but I haven't been able to find out what their new currency will be or how it will be backed. But the euro is certainly not out of the question....and with an aging Castro, Cuba is a fine piece of real estate for any of our enemies.

I don't think it is ABC News' job to authenticate the tape. I think the second they had it in their hands, the CIA should have been notified! Even if it was a hoax, it is not the news organization's job to make news.

Supposedly ABC had this tape all weekend (trying to authenticate before handing it over to the CIA). Why not hand it over immediately and let the CIA do the verification, instead of wasting a couple of days. We all know that the CIA would need to do authenticate it too. So, again, why waste two days and not turn it over to the CIA immediately?

I wonder why ABC would not run this? Does it make it seem as though the terrorist wuld rather have Kerry for President?

Maybe they will, but only pressure. It's one of those statements that give context to the wide variety of Islamist agendas. The anti-American reportage generally selects and focuses on subjects that confirm their prejudices how they think Islamists think - basically we, and maybe Israel, are the "cause". Bringing up complaints about getting rid of the Taliban is problematic for anti-American slants because the generally lefty view is that the Taliban leaving is not a bad thing. Osama's speeches were full of worldwide objectives and complaints, rarely these are noted.

Another way is selective reporting. Take the Spanish incident. The videos attributing blame specifically mentioned not only Iraq, but Afghanistan. In reportage the Afghanistan angle is overlooked.

What do cell phones and laptops have to do with the physical transportation of a tape? Surely you aren't suggesting the feds got a copy which might eliminate any evidence from the original tape.

As for the MSM lying, sure..in some cases. For you to apply that here you would need evidence in THIS case. Without that evidence, it is an assumption.

Question. If it was FOUND, when was it actually made? Is there a specific reference to this coming election? All I see is a reference to the previous election of W.

I hate to disagree with most everyone here, but I have to give ABC the benefit of the doubt until we see the transcript and/or can verify whether or not the gov't asked them not to air it (or "leak" it).

Not a campaign issue? You betcha! But guess what - EVERYTHING is a campaign issue to skerry. He'd step on our backs in a second if it were to help him politically and personally (just ask the Swift Boat Vets)...

And apparently ABC considers this a campaign issue as well. Who are they to decide if the tape is legit? That's for our government to decide. They had no right to hold onto that tape for any length of time. They interfered with National Security IMHO.
