Thread 1 - Pre-Debate discussion
{I think we're going to see Cheney drop the hammer on every single point we wished Bush would have hammered on tonite. }
You think?

Just cause you're a Vietnam Vet doesn't give you the right to spoil thing for the rest of us. I praise your service to the country, as you should praise mine, but that doesn't give you a blank check to to do whatever you like to whomever you like, and then defend it with your war service.
The truth is your graphics are preventing folks from participating in this important discussion because it's slowing down the server... and anyone on a modem line is getting entirely blocked out, too.
It's just not fair, Tonkin, and you d*mned well know it.
And YOU're one of the TROLLS on line tonight.
Say goodnight, BruceTheTrollFromMtVernon. Don't forget to button up your jammies flap.
Don't lurk! We need help fighting off the dumb trolls!
I was thinking the same thing about YOURS!
I liked your observation as I've read through this morass ... the President framed Skerry as inconsistent and as a dangerous leader when consistency is essential. The President also portrayed Skerry as insulting the efforts and sacrifice of our courageous, heroic military ... and that is what the average citizen will remember from this first debate. Now, back to reading ...
I feel the same! Bush is a post 911 President! Kerry will be a Pre 911 President! That came across clearly!
Folks...we are going to be hearing the words "Global Test" constantly over the next few days. This is going to be a killer.
Nope. I wasn't dissing W. W held off someone who is better debator when it comes to strategy; but, worse when it comes to the facts. Kerry should have done better and only managed a draw. That speaks well of Bush and poorly for Kerry. I have problems with our president; but, I still love the guy. And I think Kerry is a compulsive liar. Objectively speaking, a few more wheaties and Bush would have cleaned the floor with Kerry. I think he was trying too much to play nice. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. He's been able to play nice and still be effective before. The difference is Bush comes off as real when being nice. Kerry comes off condescending.
The left side of my tube could have broken a couple of times tonight. I ain't voting for the president; but, it ain't because I don't love and mostly agree with the guy.
Yes, Kerry did say that!
I hate to say it, but it really doesn't matter.
Televised "debates" are about style points, targeted to the uninformed mushy undecided-class. Failing to understand and address the target audience is always a fatal mistake.
IMO, following this "debate", I give Kerry an (8) and President Bush a (6). Kerry did what he had to do, and GW was horribly unprepared. Lehrer helped Kerry at every opportunity. This debate was a huge missed opportunity for GW, and he has himself and his advisers to blame. This is not a practice game, it's the real thing.
BTW, the Republicans have been once again snookered by the leftist mass media. Communist Lehrer as moderator? Good God almighty! They remind me of how Charlie keeps agreeing to Lucy as the place kicker. Lehrer was a clever slime-ball, as usual.
"Bush looked like a deer caught in the headlights tonight."
OTOH, you ACT like a deer caught in the headlights. Bush was real, he tells the truth and KERRY LIED!
You only wish the game were over....
Kerry is a classic debater, but 1)flip flopped 2)said he would arm Iran with NUKES,of all things 3)denigrated ALL of our allies 4)lied and then lied and lied again 5)was booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring as all getout.
What the complainers wanted,President Bush to somehow nuke Kerry, was NEVER going to happen;such things seldom if ever do,in these debates!
There just isn't enough time, for anyone,to do what you wanted and Weld was right, when he said that in debates,Kerry spews out so many lies, that it's impossible to correct them all and still get one's own points across.
Yes, pundits WILL parse the speeches tomorrow and even the most ardent Dem supporters aren't going to be able to spin Kerry performance, all that well.
ROFL !!!
The "mess" in Iraq?
Are they referring to a war?
You are wrong!
The debate was about foreign policy. No one expected to hear about domestic affairs at this one.
It is only a proposal that will have to be voted on in congress and it will never pass even if it gets out of committee. The idea is to get the younger vote out for Kerry and they are of course being lied to. A proposal is not the same as being actually 'in the works'.
exactly right!
As Zell Miller stated 'Kerry wants to outsource our Defense'
