Last Sunday Gen. Abizaid implied that Osama's been dead for some time now. I think he's right, but he sure as heck hasn't been leading Al Queda out front from anywhere on this planet for a long time.

Initial reactions are that Kerry was polished, slick and presidential and Bush seemed to lack confidence. But as time passes, the substance of the debates comes into focus.

Well said. To my mind, Kerry debated, and Bush campaigned.

You nailed it. W was going to nail 4-5 points that people would remember. He disinigrated the Bush lied argument and gave examples of Kerry agreeing on the same intel. He said what the ultimate goal was and why and hammered Kerry on denigrating the allies including Alawi. What points will anyone remember about Kerry tomorrow??

Pray for W and Our Troops

The Pres is a lot smarter and sharper than most here at FR.

He recognised that the major gaffe in tonights deabte was Kerry's "Global Test" which he called him on immediately.

Rememeber those words, "Global Test", you'll be hearing them a lot very soon.

Despite what the pundits or gloom/doom freepers are saying...President Bush's poll numbers will be up tomorrow.

This was not a debate to score points against Kerry to score points, as some would have wished. No, this was a forum for President to convince folks to vote for him.

He did. And, he even asked for their vote, which Kerry did not. LOL

I think we're going to see Cheney drop the hammer on every single point we wished Bush would have hammered on tonite. The Enforcer is up next and you can bet that 1. Nuke fuel 2. Bunker busting bombs 3. World approval will be discussed and really hammered on.

Let Bush act like a President. Cheney will do the dirty work come next week.

I agree. Kerry looked like nothing else but a prissy New England schoolmarm standing behind his podium, with that self satisfied smirk on his bony face, nodding at the grades he was giving to the uneducated farmboy. Trouble for Kerry is that more people in the swing states identify with the farmboy than the fast talking yankee schoolmarm. Kerry might as well of had a hairnet and a bun behind his head.

I'll expand...I've talked to many (including a local Nashville talk show host) that LIKES it when Bush leans over the podium, looks directly into the camera and lays out his position in no uncertain terms.

It means he's being real and not managed.

Kerry wants to have six-party talks and bilateral talks - he wants his flip and his flop too! Of course the whole point of having the 6-party talks is that this shouldn't be about the NK blackmailing the U.S. for false promises. This should be about exerting diplomatic pressure from various players to get Kim to reconsider his position. Holding six-party talks and bilaterals talks is inconsistent and sends the wrong message to Kim Jong Il. John Kerry likes sending the wrong message to our enemies.

MSNBC has "focus" group on.....all pro-Kerry (it's in Ohio) and the one past Bush voter is swinging towards the dufus. They all say they as still undecided after tonight, but hat Kerry did better. Ugh. Being in Ohio, they are waiting until the domestic agenda debate....Bush could have done more for them locally....Now Chrissy Matthews is saying Ralph Reid looked more down and depressed tonight than he has ever seen him.

Well, with regard to my comments, you might wish to pause and extract feet from mouth or head from posterior. I didn't comment on whether or not LOOKING tired hurt him.

My comment was that if he was tired, it may explain some of his performance. IE substance - not style. It appears you're looking to vent on somebody about your perceptions rather than what is actually being said, at least on my part. If you want to argue that, you'll need to argue elsewhere because there is no argument here.

Bush played tonight not to win but to not lose. He succeeded at that. No gaffes. Worse for Kerry, we have some great tv ad sound bites: Global test We didn't need that tax cut Give Iran nuclear fuel I've never waivered on Iraq This is one of those nights that will look a lot better after the fact

Agree. Lots of grist for Bush to grind-up on the trail.

What Kerry said tonight is not going to look so good tomorrow.

Kerry had about 9 lies in each sentence. Nasty slick liar lawyer. I just saw Franks do everything but flat call Kerry a liar. He was more diplomatic but spoke of things he had first hand knowledge of.

We will see how this all looks when we get a transcript.
