Bush Poster Child
If the picture of little 3-year-old Sophia Parlock crying after some Kerry-Edwards supporters tore up her Bush-Cheney poster got to you, well, you weren't the only one. President Bush and even first pup Barney were dismayed too, we hear. It happened at a West Virginia rally last week for Democratic running mate Sen. John Edwards, to which Phil Parlock brought his daughter. After seeing the picture of the tearful Sophia on her dad's shoulders, aides said the president was sending her a little note Friday along with a signed campaign poster and an autographed photo of the prez and his dog. "Dear Sophia," Bush penned, "Thank you for supporting my campaign. I understand someone tore up your sign. So I am sending you a new sign and a signed picture. Please give my best to your family. Sincerely, George W. Bush." And on the picture, he inked: "To Sophia, Best wishes from me and Barney." Phil Parlock tells us it really wasn't necessary. "He already said 'Thank you' when he hugged her" at a previous Bush rally they attended, he says. "She bragged for days."See the picture:

I am a union Steamfitter and I just have to say that most painters are okay, but there are some that are just nutty.
(too much huffing?)
To: capocchio
I think the fact that Barney is in fact a DOG, "Me and Barney" is justified in this case.

Welcome here.
The union (as an entity by itself) doesn't make (or break) the person, what's regrettable is that the illegal activities, bribery/corruption, and political power games so frequently seen now are tied back to the union base.
Again, it's the person at fault, but too often, the union (as a group and power base) exploits that "band" which becomes lawbreakers.
Perhaps rooted in "tradition", back in the earlier days when both sides were immoral and lawbreakers?

Can you elaborate a bit on that? I ain't sticking a single tootsie in that nasty place. One of them went to lexis nexis to look up Parlock's past and discovered that, along with being a long time Republican activist, he had attended/infiltrated two Democrat rallies in the past and was assaulted there too.
Ergo, according to their theory, he went to this rally (not really a "rally", more of just a fenced off area of an airport that was open to the public) in the hopes of getting assaulted, putting his children in harms way on purpose, and having it blasted on the media.
In a nutshell, they're accusing him of he staging it all, and worse than that, put his own children in harms way to achieve this.
They also put forth the theory that the union thug in the photo is Parlock's son, thereby inflaming their paranoid fantasies.
Evidenced that the crying girl was staged (a summary) (DU Barf Alert)

I am not defending unions or thugs that tend to run them,
I am just saying that there are a lot of people (like me)
that are sane and are in a union just because you have to.
To: dubyaismypresident
Thanks for that link.
What did it take ... 4 posts ... for the "Evil Genius Rove" to make an appearance?
It's somewhat funny. The DUmmies think Rove is a genius marionette working W's puppet strings, and a goofy group of Freepers think Rove is an idiot marionette working W's puppet strings.
But, it's George W. Bush the puppet in both cases.
To: MaggiesDad
Understand.
That's what I was trying to say, perhaps I didn't phrase it as I should have.
It is the person in the uniform, not the uniform (military or union tee-shirt) itself, that counts.
(Then again - Hey, the guys a painter and has probably been breathin' fumes too long ....8<)

Where is the shot of Bush hugging the little girl who lost her dad in Iraq? He grabbed her at a campaign stop and held her tight. Do we need another president after that moment?

If you can't make political hay about a crowd of your opponent's adult supporters picking on a three year old girl, is there anything that he can legitimately use?
C'mon, lighten up. The Dems handed us a big fat hanging curve, and Dubya's got every right to knock it out of the park.
