WASHINGTON, D.C. - John Kerry has repeatedly called for increasing taxes on the "wealthy" so the affluent "pay their fair share" for the "common good." Ironically, John and Theresa Heinz Kerry, who comprise one the richest families in the world, pay relatively little income tax.
Last year, John Kerry and his wife paid just 12% of their combined income in income taxes, despite their assertion that the rich should contribute increased amounts to government coffers. In contrast, President and Mrs. Bush, who had a substantially lower income than the Kerry's, paid over 28% in taxes.
"John Kerry wants other Americans to pay higher taxes while he and his wife manage to pay a rate lower than most of the middle class," said ATR President Grover Norquist. "Apparently, the Kerry's think everyone else should pay higher taxes but them."
In addition to finding loopholes and write-offs to decrease his taxes, John Kerry has declined to pay a small, voluntary tax in his home state. The Massachusetts state income tax code contains a provision allowing payers to contribute an extra .6% of their income to benefit the commonwealth. Kerry has consistently failed to pay the extra money, which would have amounted to $687 dollars last year.
"John Kerry thinks other hardworking Americans should pay more taxes while he and his billionaire wife pay as little as possible," continued Norquist. "The hypocrisy John Kerry shows on his own tax return is not indicative of the character and judgment America needs in our President." Contact: Christopher Butler (202) 785-0266 cbutler@atr.org
This press release is 2 days old. Why haven't we seen this story on Drudge or heard it on Rush or Hannity?
Probably because of the CBS snafu....that would be my guess.
BUMP!!!
Supposedly of Teresa's $5 million income last year, $2.5 million was interest from tax free municipal bonds. Income that will never be taxable. I wonder how much bonds she holds at today's low interest rates. It doesn't matter if sKerry raises taxes, because their income is sheltered.
Then you have the whole hypocrisy of not paying the voluntary higher state tax rate in Mass which he get's a pass on.
His sidekick (Breckgirl the nonveteran) launders his $40 million in dirty lawsuit income through a flim flam corporation as dividends avoiding hundreds of thousands in Medicare taxes.
Of course both shysters have not returned their unearned Senate salaries back to the treasury as the law requires.
WTF!? That is less than me!!!
I can not wait to hear this on the Communist Broadcasting Network this evening. /sarc

KERRYS PAID JUST 12% IN FEDERAL INCOME TAXES IN 2003Excerpt:WASHINGTON, D.C. - John Kerry has repeatedly called for increasing taxes on the "wealthy" so the affluent "pay their fair share" for the "common good." Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.
How dare you question John Kerry's patriotism! ;-)
Hey John, ya forgot to check the little box!!!!
Freakin' Liberal.
Cheers!
Bump!!!
We should ALSO be furious that Edwards incorporated himself
(with an employee of ONE ... just himself) in order to EVADE FEDERAL TAXES!!!
BUMP!
This year, I'm going to be paying more than Kerry!
If that isn't hypocrisy, I don't know what is. Bush ought to attack, attack, attack on that point.
Well the secret is to have critical mass wealth so you can get in on those bonds and other tax exempt opportunities for the tax shelter. While I am far from rich...really far from that kind of wealth, I do have a tiny portfolio that has a couple of those thingys in it...but our taxes are still a lot higher than what they paid.
So...if they get nailed for tax shelters than that will affect us little guys too in that respect. Maybe it is time for the VAT type tax. Then the Kerry's and folks like them will pay hefty taxes when the replace the yachts and planes and trains they own and when we replace our old car with a used one our taxes will be less...
More reason to get behind Bush and the Tax Issue!!!!
