Ada's Story: Woman Glad She Had Abortion
I'm Not Sorry.net ^ | Unknown | Ada

Posted on 07/31/2004 5:18:29 PM PDT by Keyes2000mt

I put my co-pay and a small donation on my credit card. It's a lot less than I thought I'd have to pay. I'm relieved, since I have student fees and rent coming up. More waiting. I get very hungry. I wish I had eaten breakfast before coming. I look over the pamphlet and discover NuvaRing. It sounds great and so much more convenient than the Pill. My regular doctor had not mentioned it. I had no idea there was something so easy available. I'm excited to get started with that right away.

Three hours after first arriving, it's finally time. I'm led to a bathroom and told to empty my bladder and put a pad in my underwear. I'm then led to another room where I strip from the waist down and lie on a table. I realize that I'm not even nervous. I feel a little awkward lying on a table with no pants, but nothing too bad. The doctor comes in, introduces himself, and shakes my hand. A woman stands next to me and starts some small talk. It gets my mind off what's going on. I barely feel a thing at first. The woman next to me warns I'll soon hear the vaccuum turn on and feel some cramping. It was still a bit surprising to feel cramps so suddenly. It is uncomfortable, but not painful. More small talk. She's a cat person but her apartment won't allow them. I sympathize.

Finally, I hear the machine shut off, and the woman next to me says it is hopefully over. The doctor confirms. All the important parts have been removed. I'm done.

The doctor reminds me of the importance of scheduling a follow-up exam before leaving the room. As soon as I sit up, the cramps get a lot better. I get dressed and go into the recovery room. I'm still hungry, and a little cold, but am feeling pretty good. The cramps aren't that bad, and I'm relieved to have the procedure done.

I tell the woman I have decided on the NuvaRing. We discuss that and go over my aftercare. 7 days of antibiotics. No sex, tampons, or lifting over twenty pounds for two weeks. Nothing I can't handle. I'm reminded once more to make an appointment for a follow-up exam in three to four weeks. I get a small brown bag with papers describing everything I was told about, a bottle of antibiotics, and my first NuvaRing. Another woman checks my blood pressure and temperature again. My blood pressure has come back down.

I'm hungry, and I want a nap, but I'm feeling good about my decision, and relieved that it's over. My roommate takes me for lunch and drops me off at home before heading into work. I'm hardly bleeding at all.

I talk to my mom on the phone a few hours later. I lie and say that nothing's new in my life. I know she wouldn't approve, but I also know she's not ready to be a grandmother yet.

Feb. 7: After a few days of just light spotting, it's starting to feel like a period flow. I haven't used pads in over ten years. It feels strange.

I make the appointment for my follow-up exam. It will be on February 25, exactly three weeks after the procedure. They'll make sure there were no complications, and I'll get the chance to buy more NuvaRings.

Walking home from the store, I hear a baby wailing through an apartment window on my street. I chuckle to myself and think how happy I am that won't be my window later this year.

To simply say "I'm not sorry" or "I don't regret it" is not strong enough. Having an abortion was the best decision I ever made. I'm glad I did it, and I'm 100% confident that I made the right choice for myself, my lover, and our situation. It's not right for everyone, but it was right for me, and I'll do everything in my power to make sure every woman has the opportunity to decide if it is right for her without legislation making that decision for her.

Any pregnancy will change your life, whether you have the baby or not. It should be up to us how we let it change us.

Yeah, the laughing when she heard the baby cry on her way home - definitely didn't ring true.

But, fine, we know that she or the ghost writer won't be laughing about this in years to come.

My God this woman is SICK. I hope she never breeds or suckers some guy into marrying her.

The pro-abortion lobby is really starting to vamp up its "abortion pride" campaign. It was revolting enough to see that Planned Parenthood had released those "I had an abortion." shirts without articles like this floating around. Somehow I don't think this is the last we've heard of this stuff, sadly.

The fact that need a "pride" movement in itself shows that they are ashamed. Then again, some people can't allow something silly like a "conscience" get in the way of the activities they want to support...

To change the subject, I just read your homepage. LOL! We have a Yellow English Lab named Sandy. My wife and our second son picked her out after our Irish Setter died six years ago. The Setter and I were good friends and I didn't take to Sandy right off. Now she helps my wife run the house. We also adopted a greyhound from the local track.

My wife just came in the room and I read her your homepage. She laughed. She said CindyDawg sounds like good people. Regards, O.C.

What is this Nuva Ring? (this is news to me)

Link:
http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/whatIsNuvaRing/index_flash.asp

NuvaRing® is a different kind of birth control.  The comfortable, flexible contraceptive ring that is about two inches in diameter is used to prevent pregnancy. You insert NuvaRing® into your vagina just once a month. The muscles in your vaginal wall will keep NuvaRing® in place for three weeks. During that time, it will slowly release a low dose of female hormones that are needed to prevent pregnancy.

When 21 days are completed, simply remove NuvaRing® to allow your body to have its menstrual cycle. After a seven-day break, you will insert a new ring to continue to be protected against pregnancy.

Ah, the wonders of technology, freeing up (presumably) teen-aged girls to be full-time whores.

Two comments:
- The kid sounds like she's a college undergrad. This would imply that she's been on the pill since she was 12 (Mom abdicated her parental responsibility and just said "do whatever," it would appear).
- I'm no medical professional, but I find it hard to believe that a woman not having her period for 10 years is healthy. I would expect long-term pahysical health problems for this woman (the mental ones have been covered in other posts).

Litany...SIGH!!!...you GOTTA be a guy!!!

When she said it's been 10 years since she used pads, it's because most women these days use tampons.

She was instructed NOT to use tampons after her "procedure" because they are insterted where the damage was done. It wasn't that she hadn't had a period for 10 years.

Also, there is new evidence that part of the cancer problems women have these days is that they have TOO MANY periods. In days gone by, mature women spent most of their time pregnant, without periods. Of course, they died by the time they were 35, for the most part.

Not to excuse this horrible story...but you have NO IDEA what you're talking about....

"I sent 3 pasages from the Bible (Psalms 139, Romans 1 and 1 John 9) and asked the webmaster at the site to read them. No other commentary from me. Here was the response that I got:
If Christ was around to see what idiotic, mindless hating sheep his "followers" have become, he would be ashamed of you all."

Do you have the transcript of that email??? Just remove your name if you want.

I agree, and will retreat to blissful ignorance on this topic on the topic of pads and tampons.

And I, m'dear, will have nothing to say about shaving one's face, prostates, or the need for a little blue pill.... ;)

Yes, some women who have had abortions can be this callous and monstrous.

I'll never forget the night I went to the home of a coworker to a party to show off her new house. She was married to an up and coming young executive at the hospital where we worked. After supper, we were sitting in the living room, talking, just getting to known each other in a general sort of way, when the talk turned to babies. The hostess volunteered that she'd had two abortions - one when, as she put it, "I was just young and wild and seeing if I could get pregnant" and another one with her current husband because the timing of a baby was "just not right". She told us she was glad she'd had the abortions and just considered those babies "clumps of cells." She said she would have never considered adoption because she didn't want some 20-year-old showing up on her doorstep one day and saying, "I'm your kid." She also told us, "If I hadn't had those abortions, I wouldn't have the nice house I live in today." My blood literally ran cold and I recoiled from the woman as if she were something slimy and unnatural. I left as quickly as possible and I couldn't bring myself to associate with her after that.

Ironically, she left the medical records department where we worked because she became pregnant - this time it was a baby and not a clump of cells I guess, in her opinion - and she had to stay on bedrest in order to carry the baby - due to her previous abortions. This woman was evil, truly evil, wrapped up in a nice country-club-gentility package.

They are shooting themselves right in the foot and don't seem to realize it. Many, many women are pro-life for themselves and pro-choice for others because they imagine the women getting abortions are doing so because of horrific circumstances-not just because "I don't WANT it".

The more of this crap they put out, the more arrogant and dismissive they sound, the angrier these "pro-life/pro-choice" women get for having defended them.

My own mother is pro-choice. She heard the "selective reduction" story and was stunned and revolted.

I knew a woman that was a pro-life counselor. She said that one woman she spoke with told her that she thought she couldn't have a baby yet because they hadn't finished furnishing their new house. The counselor tried her best, but when she followed up with a later call the baby was already gone.

Today's TO-DO list:
pay gas & electric bills
get third septum piercing
pick up dry cleaning
and oh yes get uteris scraped!

We are living in a sick twisted world where too many people have absolutely no respect for life and even less for themselves!

"I'm feeling good about my decision"

"I lie and say that nothing's new in my life"

"Having an abortion was the best decision I ever made"

The first steps down a path of self deception. You can go to a penitentiary tomorrow and find all the felons you want who will say exactly the same things about their crimes.

Like them, this damaged woman may actually talk herself into believing it for awhile. But she won't believe it after the next one.

I wonder if the "doctor," or any of the "women" working there, told her she now has a 25% risk of sterility, a six-fold greater risk of PID, and her chances of breast cancer just doubled. Bet not.

Unbelievable, isn't it? That people could value things more than a little baby's life. I just have no words...

In my late wife's case it was a terrifying fear of getting pregnant again. It was 1971 and we were 20 at the time of abortion. We were young, scared and had originally decided to have the baby and get married, but my wife's fear of her mother's reaction to her pregnancy changed all that at the last minute. I can tell you we had no idea what we were really doing, not that that is an excuse. Her mother had had 3 miscarriages, two before she was born and was not stingy with her stories about the pain they caused. My wife told me that she was so afraid if she got pregnant again she would have a miscarriage like her mother and that she didn't think she could stand the emotional and physical pain the loss of the baby would cause. She never mentioned the abortion, but I always felt that her pain and emotional trauma from that procedure had a lot to do with that. Sadly we never had any children. I suppose a religious person might say that was our punishment for refusing his original offer.
