When she said it's been 10 years since she used pads, it's because most women these days use tampons.
She was instructed NOT to use tampons after her "procedure" because they are insterted where the damage was done. It wasn't that she hadn't had a period for 10 years.
Also, there is new evidence that part of the cancer problems women have these days is that they have TOO MANY periods. In days gone by, mature women spent most of their time pregnant, without periods. Of course, they died by the time they were 35, for the most part.
Not to excuse this horrible story...but you have NO IDEA what you're talking about....
I agree, and will retreat to blissful ignorance on this topic on the topic of pads and tampons.
One correction for you, however ... my research into colonial genealogy shows that plenty of women lived well past 35. But to your point, they were constantly pregnant and while plenty of children died young, that didn't stop them from having more. In fact, you will often see the same name used consecutively which is a clue that the first of that name died shortly after birth.
