The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

This warning has received almost no media coverage in California. I guess the mediots want us dead or it is more important to trumpet Kerry.

Some would be quite happy to rule the cremains of America.

AQ operations are tightly "compartmentalized".
Ghailani was one of the seven listed on the FBI national alert a few months ago.
The issue is not his pecking order on the AQ food chain but what does he know?

If he has general knowledge of the current situation, that is one thing.
(And the fact he was hiding out in Pakistan rather than here tends to indicate that)
But if he has specific knowledge on an operation(s) currently underway . . .
His capture will either accelerate if not trigger it (use it or lose it)
Or (hopefully) disrupt the operation and force them to go to ground

Same goes for Zarqawi or any other "big fish"
I guess it is always "good news/bad news"

Planners of the next destruction

The Western Wall is an important national symbol; the Temple Mount should be the focus of dreams, not plots.

The extreme right-wing belittles Hanegbi’s warning and that of Israel Security Agency Chief Avi Dichter. However, two days ago Yehuda Etzion, who served seven years in prison for instigating the previous attempt to blow up the mosques, said that it would be a “worthy act”. Saying that the Temple Mount must be cleansed of the al-Asqa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, he added that he does not believe that they will be removed by an act of heaven, it needs to be a human act.

It is terrifying. It is hovering over us. If the plot succeeds, Israel might have no revival. It could cost the country its very existence. Most Jews consider it the deluded folklore of few sheep-slaughterers who design cardboard models of the Temple. However, beneath the surface, the fear that they are growing is sinking in. Most rabbis hear the threat and are silent. Who knows what they are thinking?

Joe,
If nukes were bought before 911 by AQ in preparation for the undoing of the US and their master plan (since it would be difficult to acquire them after 911 since the US's intelligence would be peeking into every hole looking for info and would be hard to hide these purchases), wouldn't the nukes already be in place (before 911) and be triggered by this time? If AQ is trying to acquire nukes currently, it would be close to impossible with everyone giving info to the US? Any money that would be made by 911 ("shorting" airline stock) would not have been necessary if their plan was already made and all finances were acquire.
