The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

It is possible that the delay in striking us is part of an overall international strike plan that is so ambitious so as to make 911 look like child's play.

Yep.

I think most of us are guilty of underestimating the extent of their long-term thinking, and how inter-related their overall plan is. It does them no good to hit the U.S. unless they also can implement other parts of their plan at the same time.

First, I expect nothing to happen unless they think they can take over Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or Egypt at the same time. Right now it looks like a light breeze would topple the House of Saud. Hence, that piece may be in place.

Until today, that seemed "grand" enough for my way of thinking. But something happened today that may have changed that: The Islamofascists are warning of a plot to blow up the Dome of the Rock and/or its associated Mosque. They threaten all kinds of dire consequences if that happens.

There is no way we (or the Israelis) would do this. But what if the bad guys did it, and BLAMED US!!!

This would be in keeping with time honored tradition: Commit some atrocity yourself, and blame your enemy. Voila! Instant justification for war.

So here's the theory: The bad guys blow up the Dome of the Rock and/or the Mosque themselves. (They set the stage for that today by claiming they know of a diabolical plot to do just that.) Voila! Instant rage in the entire Muslim world. Instant justification for steps that might otherwise be seen as too extreme.

So what could they be planning that would need this kind of provocation to justify? A three step attack perhaps? Such as:
1. Blow up the Vatican and kill the Pope. (nuke?)
2. Hit London hard. (chemical/bio?)
3. Hit the U.S. very hard. (chemical/bio/nuke?)

This is bigger than I had been thinking until today. But the outcome could be a unified Islam, as well as major destruction to their enemies.

And, of course, the war they are seeking between Islam and the rest of the world would be on.

I'm starting to reevaluate this whole thing since I read the first 5 chapters of 911 report. These people seem unorganized. For example the date 911 was initially going to take place earlier in the month but slide to 911. I think that 311 was easy to obtain since bombs were just place along a track. A nuke/bio/chem would take a lot more planning. Another thought... news about CA and NM...what if rumored strikes in NY, LA, DC are to keep investigators away from the real staging areas?

DENVER (AP) — Janus Capital Group Inc. said Thursday that an unidentified client will pull $5 billion out of its mutual funds by the end of the year, some 3.7 percent of its total assets under management.

Until we know who is pulling the plug, I wouldn't be so sure that it's not terror related.

It is possible that the delay in striking us is part of an overall international strike plan that is so ambitious so as to make 911 look like child's play...........IMHO, whatever is going to happen globally will have a medium sized "trigger" likely starting in Italy and rolling forward to a cresendo right around the time of the GOP convention.

IMO, this would be an order of magnitude increase in AQ operations. They have been able to conduct coordinated attacks in two separate African countries, but to consider coordinated strikes on multiple continents is staggering indeed. With that said, they have announced that such an attack was going to happen starting with Italy.

Look at the "sudden" (??) flood of possible AQ across the southern border.

I agree, reinforcements are likely. As I mentioned in my summary, I don't think the American Muslem is as immersed in jihad as the ME. I'm sure there are some out there (and there have been the infamous american talaban), but for prolonged, sustained operations they would need more people agreed.

IF they have enough trained folks to initiate large scale military warfare on our home soil, this is where it will happen.

Even under the worst case scenario - nukes - I don't think that they would come out of their holes and try to engage us in the U.S. in open warfare. We are too well armed and highly tick'd off. I think they misjudged our response to 911 and they would be more cautious of committing THAT much manpower and keeping it hidden long enough to pull it off.

We are trying to figure out symbolic or important dates.

These guys want to strike when an opportunity opens up for them.

The strike can come at any time and place.

I would not put a great deal of importance on symbolic dates.

They are watching and waiting for their shot.

IMHO, tomorrow is no more or less important than next week or the last week in October.

They will hit when they can.

Conclusion: Prepare as if the hit is imminent every day.
