The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Thanks HipShot. Faith is most important in these trying times and no one, especially no jihadi, will ever dictate to me or mine what they want us to believe. I listened to Kerry's acceptance speech tonight and when he talked about his religious faith, all I could think about was that his own church does not want him to take communion. He skirted that issue, like he does so many others.

Even if no dots were connected (and I'm not saying that) a summary like you posted in black and white, may be useful in pointing to trends and patterns and that is very helpful.

I tried to explain to my hubby and daughter why this thread is so important to me. I decided the best way to "show them" was to put together a list of the information that is gathered. It worked. :) The information everyone gathers is unbelievable.

FBI: Al-Qaida may be targeting N.M., Calif.
Last Update: 07/29/2004 6:19:44 PM
...Officials say, though, that the warning isn’t specific about particular targets or methods of attack.

New Mexico Department of Public Safety spokesman Peter Olson says there have been reports of possible al-Qaida elements existing in both states.

Olson says he has no specifics and no information on why the warning was issued.

But New Mexico’s director of homeland security, Brigadier General Annette Sobel, is meeting with border agencies, and working with the department’s federal counterparts.

No specific threats

...Police are again being reminded to report any suspicious activity. “We have to take every bit of information that we get seriously,” said Olson, “especially considering what happened with the Pentagon and the World Trade towers. We have to take everything seriously.”

But Albuquerque’s mayor’s office says this isn’t something Albuquerque residents need to be deeply concerned about.

Spokespeople for Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque and Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo say they aren't on heightened security.

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque and Los Alamos National Laboratory also aren't under heightened security, saying they haven't received any specific threats against the facilities.

President Bush has activated 200 members of the First Battalion, 200th Air Defense Artillery Unit, based in Roswell, to help with homeland security.

Domenici: FBI heard ‘chatter’

New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici says he doesn’t believe any terrorist action is imminent. He says the warning just means the FBI heard what’s called “chatter.”

May attack scrubbed?

The FBI says they received intelligence late last week that al-Qaida may have had an attack planned on New Mexico in May, but scrubbed it because of heightened security...

-------

This warning has received almost no media coverage in California. I guess the mediots want us dead or it is more important to trumpet Kerry.

China Warns of Military Clash with Taiwan by 2008

2 hours, 55 minutes ago Add World - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By John Ruwitch

BEIJING (Reuters) - Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian risks war with China if he pushes for a new constitution by 2008, but can guarantee security if he recognizes the island as part of China, the China Daily on Friday quoted a top official as saying.

The island's security lies not in building up an arsenal of missiles and submarines but in offering assurances that Taiwan is not planning to declare independence, Vice Minister of the Taiwan Affairs Office Wang Zaixi told the newspaper.

As mentioned before, if AQ doesn't pull the trigger soon, the US may capture all the militants. Wouldn't that be too bad /sarcasm. As time moves on, I think that it is less likely that anything will occur in the US. If there is activity on the US shores, it would only be Oklahoma type bombings at the most - no nukes.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A huge explosion at a gas works near Brussels killed 10 people Friday, authorities said.
The explosion in the industrial area of Ghislenghien, about 20 miles southeast of Brussels, was felt several miles away, authorities told Belgian media. Residents were advised to stay indoors with windows shut, but no evacuation was ordered and no evidence of toxic fumes.

The cause of the blast wasn't immediately known. The E429 motorway through the area was closed in both directions.

Jean-Jacques Perrin, police inspector in nearby Ath, told the Belgian news agency Belga that at least 10 people died and others were injured.

Belgian Gas Blast Kills 15, Injures 100
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=3274046
A massive gas blast that could be felt six miles away killed at least 15 people and injured about 100, including firefighters and police, near Brussels today.

The explosion at an industrial park in Ghislenghien, about 20 miles south-east of the Belgian capital, was caused when construction workers pierced an underground gas distribution line, acting provincial governor Guy Petit said.

Two nearby factories also caught fire from the midmorning blast, which was felt six miles away.

Police Inspector Jean-Jacques Perrin said there had been a gas leak from a pipeline 2O feet underground which was followed by an explosion and a huge blaze in a factory.

Heavy smoke hung over the area. Residents were advised to stay indoors with their windows shut, but authorities said there was no evidence of toxicity and no evacuation was ordered.

Army units were called in to help co-ordinate the disaster response, including the closure of the E429 motorway through the area, with cars forced to exit at Ath or Enghien.

A federal crisis centre was co-ordinating emergency services and hospitals.

Health Minister Rudy Demotte was rushing back by military aircraft from a Bulgarian holiday to visit the scene and hospitals.

Belguim pipeline explodes http://tvnz.co.nz/view/news_world_story_skin/439340%3fformat=html

Fluxys, which runs the country's network of gas pipelines, said the blast tore through a section of a line near the town of Ath, injuring "a large number" of people. "There was a gas leak, which led to an explosion," spokesman Christian Otto says. Otto says the explosion did not occur at a factory, as initially reported by the radio.
