NBC breaking says for sure it's Edwards for veep
Sounds like a new WB sitcom: "Lurch & The Kid."
IMHO Evan Bayh saw this as a losing year and bowed out. Hillary knows the same and will actively work behind the scenes, along with Bubba, to make sure Kerry/Edwards lose. Then with 4 more years of W, they will attempt to create not just hatred of Republicans but irrational hatred. Oh, I forgot, we're already there.
As far as Edwards goes, he's a one-trick pony (Two Americas yada-yada-yada) who only entered the race to be the VP pick. A one-term Senator and a lawyer is not going to win over alot of independents. The VP-candidate cannot obscure the obvious - the total lack of conviction and charisma that is at the head of the ticket - John Effin Kerry!
How could he not be prepared?
Most boring choice EVER.
Seriously, I was gambling that all three 'finalists' were just misdirection plays. Ends up, Kerry's too boring to do something interesting.
Oh well, it's fine with me. For a second, I was worried he was going to pick Sam Nunn or Bob Graham. I'd be more worried about both of those.
Lots of people have been saying Edwards would never have gotten the nod without Hill's blessings.
If that's true, she must have a dump truck load full of dirt on the guy.
I think Iowa is a little more liberal than the rest of the country in its presidential voting patterns. I give Kerry a +2% handicap in Iowa. That is, if Kerry and Bush get the same number of popular votes in the election, Iowa will go to Kerry. If the race is 49-49 in the country, Iowa will go 51-47 for Kerry. Ballot access is pretty easy in Iowa, so I expect Nader to get on the ballot. It's not much of an answer, it depends on so many things, but I think if Bush gets 52% of the popular vote, the dominoes of IA, MN, OR, WI and maybe PA will fall too. Maybe even NJ, which is going to be weird this year after 9/11.
The key this year is Ohio. I even heard that Edwards had a vote that went against Nevada. The only Bush states Kerry has a hope of picking up are FL, OH, NV and NH. Florida is out. He's focusing on Ohio, because he also has to keep the rust belt -- a problem for him. So he's running a strategy to help him win WI, MI, OH, PA. That's it. That's the list.
We all know that GWB has fire in his belly. Right now, it is on a somewhat slow smolder, perhaps. But the president's enemies (foreign and domestic) have been throwing water on that fire unrelentingly in hopes of extinguishing it. I don't believe that fire will ever be put out, and by faith, I believe the fire in his belly will get really hot before this election cycle is over and he is reelected. Can't wait.
"John and John"
aka. John-John. Another attempt to channel the spirit of JFK. I wouldn't be surprised if Cheney had met JFK and therefore could use that classic Lloyd Benson line. If Cheney had not met him, I'm sure he could say his good friend (blank) had and was a friend of JFK and you, sir, are no JFK.
Check the tasteless tagline.
i know i am late so i apologize to anyone who already said this.
ugh. you JUST got me.
"Lots of people have been saying Edwards would never have gotten the nod without Hill's blessings.

I have to admit that before Clark, Edwards was the candidate that Clinton had seemed to support but that could have been all smoke and mirrors.
AH! you too!
I'm surprised. I was sure that Kerry wouldn't pick anyone prettier or smarter than he was.
"in an attempt to recall the days of Camelot, the democrats are knicknaming this campaign "John-John."
i know i am late so i apologize to anyone who already said this."
No sweat. I just woke up and I had to put in my two-cents right away before I read the 868 other posts. So I may be guilty of redundancy myself.
"("Another John-John going down in flames!" -- I was ashamed of this before I was proud of it.)"
Hey, that's fuuuuNY!
First time we've had a "gigolo" and an "ambulance chaser" as candidates for P&VP?
I know Fox News has to be fair and balanced about this, but I had to turn them off. It's all Edwards this morning....one Demopuke even saying that "this country has a president who's a failed oilman and a cheat and those are his only accomplishments" (words to that effect). I can't stand the Dem lies and distortions. It's like they're all Michael Moore, there's no sanity in this fight with their spurious allegations.
You hit the nail on the head.
