Summary: The DreamWorks' animated film, "Shrek 2," is billed as harmless entertainment but contains subtle sexual messages.
Parents who are thinking about taking their children to see "Shrek 2", may wish to consider the following: The movie features a male-to-female transgender (in transition) as an evil bartender. The character has a five o'clock shadow, wears a dress and has female breasts. It is clear that he is a she-male. His voice is that of talk show host Larry King.
During a dance scene at the end of the movie, this transgendered man expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming, jumps on him, and both tumble to the floor.
In another scene in the movie, Shrek and Donkey need to be rescued from a dungeon where they are chained against the wall. The rescue is conducted by pinnochio who is asked to lie so his nose will grow long enough for one of the smaller cartoon characters to use it as a bridge to reach Shrek and Donkey. Donkey encourages him to lie about something and suggetsts he lie about wearing women's underwear. When he denies wearing women's underwear, his nose begins to grow.
An earlier scene in the movie features a wolf dressed in grandma's clothing and reading a book when Prince Charming encounters him. Later, one of the characters refers to the wolf's gender confusion.
TVC's report "A gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" explains the transgender agenda and the effort to deconstruct the biological reality of male and female. DreamWorks is helping in this effort by promoting cross dressing and transgenderism in this animated film.
Metamucil does wonders for that problem.
hehehehehe
See my post 19. There is a difference from "old time" to "now" the way these things are presented (I can't vouch for Shrek 2 tho it wouldn't shock me).
Adults getting bored just cuz there's no sex or other base innuendo or piggishness (like farting, burping, etc, which have appeared recently)? I NEVER get bored by truly great innocent, tasteful old Disney movies like Lady & the Tramp, Cinderella, Snow White, Bambi and the like.
Altho Pinnochio gets boring. But that's just not a great story, or not a great telling.
Please explain to me how portraying the ugly step sister as a large, unattractive individual with the voice of Larry King can possibly be consider "promoting" transgenderism. If anything it has set the practice back. As another poster wrote, it is surprising the transgendered have not filed suit for defamation.
"The wolf dressed in a nightie is from "Little Red Riding Hood" a classic Grimm tale. "
Oh no! Now he'll start griping about the 'overt bestiality themes in evil fairy tales'!!
But what if its on the other end?
I blame Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis myself, although Milton may have beaten them to it.
They were pushing these issues before the creators of Shrek were born.
"Those behaviors should be brought to childrens attention as sick behaviors, not to be even laughed at, but behaviors one should totally distance onesself from."
I can't think of any way someone can "distance oneself" from a sick behavior than to mock it and laugh at it. That's what you don't get. Far as I'm concerned, Shrek II presented it exactly as it should be presented - as a bizarre behavior deserving of ridicule.
Maybe to you, being subjected to ridicule is a "fun" activity, since you seem to think that children will watch it and think, YAY, maybe if I become trangendered people will make fun of me too! I find this a very bizarre perspective. Most people do -not- enjoy being mocked, and if they do, they're a lost cause anyway.
Most people can distinguish between being laughed WITH and being laughed AT. You seem to have difficulty doing so, in that you seem to think it was portrayed as a very thin line in the movie. I saw it, and I really, really don't think so.
Qwinn
Kind of like parting the waters from the waters... [duck & run]
"All hail the porcelain goddess!"
I was going to mention the Bugs Bunny cartoons also....
Hmmm.. could it be. . . satan???
You must be a proponent of the criminalizing of "hate speech". It seems in your universe I am at fault for not being happy about the inclusion of crossdressing and transgender themes in childrens' movies. You are equating my opinion with censoring? This is what leftists are always saying. That to NOT LIKE a movie or a theme in movies is censoring?
Censoring is when the GOVERNMENT forbids topics or subjects from being discussed or shown in entertainment or media.
So you think my opinion or viewpoint should be censored?
"Loosen up, Lassy"
I noticed that you had nothing to say about mhking, to whom I replied that sentence which you have quoted.
Unbias thyself, fumblegunner.
LOL! According to nmh, those old cartoons are 'only in our minds', as if they weren't actually written. Funny pic, btw.
"So you think my opinion or viewpoint should be censored?"
Of course not Jeremiah, I think hand wringing scolds should always have their opinions heard.
I usually find them as amusing as Shrek
Yes, but in kids' movies? And maybe if the "innocent fun" of alcoholism weren't taken so lightly and made to seem harmless, there wouldn't be so many lives ruined from alcoholism.
Laissez, did you see Shrek 2, or not?
