A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Why Kerry's face keeps getting longer and longer

by JohnHuang2

After a week's pause following the death of former President Reagan, all three candidates were back on the campaign trail again Monday, Bush highlighting jobs and the War on Terror, Nader highlighting his lack of a job and war to get on the ballot. Candidate #3 plans to criss-cross the country, visit scores of cities, talk about his record, give major speeches, grab center stage in a huge publicity onslaught. He'll be holding a gala-like party in New York later this month. His will be a no-holds-barred campaign -- what ever it takes to clear the decks for his wife Hillary! to run in '08. (Bill Clinton, America's top black leader -- see Toni Morrison -- wants to be the first black First Spouse). Oh wait -- I forgot there's a fourth candidate, what'shisface? Sen. Kerry. (Any sign of Kerry lately?)
The media, which said the focus on Reagan during a week of mourning overshadowed Bush and made Bush look small in comparison, says the focus on Clinton with release of his memoirs June 22 won't overshadow Kerry nor make Kerry look small in comparison. "Clinton Planning to Use Book Tour to Assist Kerry," read the headline in the New York Times Monday. Clinton "is preparing to support" Kerry "as he crosses the country promoting his new book," says UPI. Having Clinton 'out there' plugging his book, with reporters swooning in awe, is meant to help Kerry because this 'book tour' is not really a book tour but Clinton's 'aw, shucks' selfless way of plugging Kerry, say experts. (Clinton's book, My Life, will be on shelves at book stores everywhere. You'll see it. It's the one in the brown paper bag). Clinton will devote all of his energies to getting Kerry elected because getting Hillary! elected in '08 hasn't even crossed his mind, say experts. A wave of Clinton publicity and book-signings will help draw attention to Kerry's electrifying 5-point plan for Part B Medicare (a real crowd favorite!) and help focus on Kerry's incredible charisma and charming personality, experts note. (It was not immediately possible to confirm if these experts were on the same PCP Clinton was on at Reagan's funeral. Signs of use include blank stare, slurred speech, hallucinations -- such as seeing Hillary! as prez in '08).
And just think of some of the other ancillary benefits for Kerry. The Clinton publicity blitzkrieg brings the whole Monica saga back in the spotlight -- just what Kerry and the Democrats needed! Having a mega dose of Monica in the lead-up to the Democrat convention invites a wave of wonderful nostalgia and voter reminiscence about Filegate, Travelgate, Chinagate, Donorgate, Pardongate ... Just think back to the days when the leader of the free world was busy chasing White House interns instead of foreign dictators and terrorists. Or when the president was immersed in the sinuous details of how to stay out of prison, rather than distracted with CIA briefings, etc. "When Clinton was in office," writes Washington Post reporter John Harris, "Clinton was hailed as a master" tactician, changing positions and "tacking back and forth to meet the needs of the moment." (I leave it up to the reader as to what changing positions and thrusting 'back and forth to meet the needs of the moment' means in Clinton's case). The coming weeks and months of discourse about Clinton, round-the-clock talk shows about Clinton, newspaper stories about Clinton and his larger-than-usual personality (and zeal for larger-than-usual interns) will keep the public riveted on Kerry, experts note. (Polls show Sen. Kerry remains ill-defined to a wide swath of the public. Kerry's image is so ill-defined, Kerry doesn't know who he is).
To promote book sales, oops, I mean Kerry sales, Clinton will appear on the CBS program "60 Minutes" the week of publication for an interview with Dan Rather about the book. Then, to really, really promote Kerry, it's off to the Oprah Winfrey Show, on the day of publication, for an interview with Oprah about his book. To fuel even more interest in Kerry, the following day Clinton goes on ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's Today show in taped interviews about his book. Two days later, it's CNN's Larry King's turn. Clinton, who says he's doing this all for Kerry, will be on for the full hour to talk about his book.

The publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, who paid Clinton a $10 million advance, expects the book to be as big a hit as "Living History," Hillary!'s own memoirs published last year by Simon and Schuster. (In it she recounts the shock and pain she felt when learning that Monica was cheating on her).
Bottom line? The political pincers are closing on Kerry, if you apply an ounce of logic here. While the media, drawing on its inexhaustible supply of denial, puts a brave face on the book blitzkrieg, the notion it's a political plus for Kerry ranks on the credibility scale alongside Michael Moore as renowned geopolitical scholar and L.A. Times polls. To believe the Clinton book tour might tilt the scales towards the plus side for Kerry you must believe Gray Davis is still governor. With the Slickster on the hustings hogging the spotlight, Kerry would have to marry J. Lo to break through the din of Clinton 24/7. Or say something he's never said before -- like that he served in Vietnam!
Small wonder Kerry's long face just got longer.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents.. "JohnHuang2"

Good evening all! :)

Kerry's long face is correct, just look at the adoration our troops have for our President seen here on tonight's Dose! Kerry knows he can't match this.

The soldiers always beam when they're close to him. Ann Coulter said - Only authentic Americans loved Reagan. - I think the same can be said about President Bush, only in the present tense (love).

Thanks!
I hope people are sharing some of my work with their friends who may find them amusing.. and those who do not.

I don't do it just to keep it all to myself, you know. ;)

Today I've updated the pages so they have a direct link for "Save Target As" to hard drive as the original .jpg, rather than the annoying .bmp that iE seems to do with "Save Picture As".

This way people can save them easily for emailing to friends.

Didn't even know about that "Save Target As" thing. Need to save your link for future posts to be illustrated, it can be time consuming Googling around for the right graphic.

Am I up late or early? I'm not sure, but I know I'm up early. I appreciate the phone call from Iraq, but wish that the only time they had short phone lines weren't at 1 o'clock in the morning on the nights that I get to bed late and have to be up early for an appointment! I haven't read today's essay, but I'm sure it's a good one. I tried to scroll through with my eyes half closed to avoid having nightmares about Clinton when I try to go back to sleep! ;) Aqua- If you didn't see the last post on yesterday's thread, you have Freepmail. And thanks for your work on today's thread. Well, I'm going to try to get another couple of hours of sleep. I think today is going to be a day that I wish I were a coffee drinker!

oops....sorry about the run on post. I forgot to put in the paragraph markers, and in my haste to get back to bed I didn't preview. *slap on the wrist* I'll try not to let it happen again! :)
