Does anyone on this forum consider it a possibility and even a probability that someone in the new Iraqi government might facilitate the escape of Saddam Hussein just as some in the Saudi government are facilitating the escape of terrorist assassins?
As discussion about turning him over to the new Iraqi government is discussed more and more, my blood chills at the thought.

With any luck, we'd have surgically placed a tag on him by now.

I think that is right up there with Charles Manson escaping...very short life expectancy.

Not an unlikely scenario I wouldn't put it past the Arab world to do such a thing.

A lot of us think they were part of a "deal."

Nope. The last thing in the world anyone within the new Iraqi government wants is Saddam "out and about".
First, because of his penchant for feeding anyone and everyone into plastic shredders.
Second, because there are literally millions of Iraqi's that know of a loved one that was buried in the mass graves of Saddam's era.

It's more likely they'll shingle a roof with him.

There is no way he could possibly reconsolidate his power base. If he ever did escape, he would either be killed or caught again - because the price tag on his head would prevent him from ever living any semblance of a normal life.

It's a huge possibility. I saw the new PM on FOX this morning and am very worried. He never answered a single question. If asked "when", he'd answer "how". If asked "why", he'd answer "what".
To: Sophie
It's much more likely that the new Iraqi Government will execute him.

We will be keeping VERY close tabs on him - if he "escapes", he'll end up like his boyz.

They are more likely to provide him with a long slow death in PUBLIC, IMHO.

Our troops will be there to "help." Iraq will be a sovereign nation, but they've asked for our help, and we will surely have a hand in keeping Saddam in custody.
