I saw/heard that. I was going to say something the other day and got sidetracked.
When I picked my son up from school on Monday, I noticed that the school hadn't lowered their flag to half mast. Shouldn't they have?
I recall one year when it was my duty to raise and lower the flag each day, that there was a time when I had to lower it ti half mast. I also recall having a television brought into the classroom when something important was going on. I remember a tv brought in for us to watch a space launch. (It was the launch where it caught fire and burned). But, I recall others over the years.
And I recall our teachers talking about 'current events'. I asked my son on Tuesday or Wednesday if any of his teachers had spoken of President Reagan and his death, and he said 'no'.
Have the schools really changed that much? I thought the Middle School was better than the elementary school since their concerts weren't so pc and all. But, I'm just so surprised that non of his teachers commented on the death of President Reagan. And that the flag had not been lowered. :(

I agree. I noticed that today he got to sit in the front row with the family for a change. I was glad to see that.

I'm not sure of this...maybe someone knows, Ciexyz. I read a long time ago (after LBJ funeral)that funeral arrangements, in full, are made when a president is elected. After he leaves office, arrangements can be altered but while he is in office, there is already a service planned so that all dignitaries and arrangements kind of fall into place quickly. So, can it be said that this is an Episcopalian service, mixed with protocol, mixed with family wishes? It was a beautiful service, with a couple of exceptions (ahem), and has left many of us quite weepy it appears. Lady Thatcher and President Bush (both of them!) had me teary-eyed and Mulroony's (sic?)comments were so touching. Speaking of touching, I was impressed with Lady Thatcher and Mr. Gorbachev touching President Reagan's casket and lingering for a few moments (on Wednesday night at the rotunda, I believe it was). God bless the Reagan family at this difficult time.>

There is a requirement that an x-pres coordinate funeral plans with the military contingent in DC within a year of leaving office. Wild Bill hasn't complied.
He probably will now. You can expect that what ever you see at President Regans funeral, Bills will be twice as large.
Well - it is illegal to strike when you are a public servant. When you are a public servant - you cant strike against the public.They were fired because they broke the rules - period. And - simple.
LOL!!! If I was in that plane, they would have to push me out and my eyes would be closed the whole time. I don't like to fly on airliners! :)

AND I was worried about the servicemen and all the steps today after the rain . . . they did great!
SAG is run by liberals, of course. Despite the fact that Reagan when he was pres. of SAG, pushed through contracts that ensured actors would be paid when shows were replayed on cable or went into syndication...in other words, it was no longer a one time payment and then you starve. Many aging actors have food on the table and a roof over their heads because of RR.
I know what you mean. It's as if she's saying that he's brainwashed because he loves his country and is willing to fight for its freedoms. Sounds a little "totalitarian" to me. It makes me feel as if I am in a parallel universe from the one Doris inhabits. LOL
Thats right--it is Pres. 41 Bush's b-day tomorrow. That's probably why they're going to Texas. Maybe the girls will be there too!
I think you're mixing her up with someone else. I have never heard of her referred to as "conservative".
I didn't know anyone was still in school.
Here in Norman, all the flags including the university went to half staff immediately. They didn't have to be told.
