There's not much happening now. Bush41 and Barbara on Larry King, CNN. Some interviews with Duberstein et al. on MSNBC. Mostly shots of the huge crowds queued up outside the rotunda.

You are correct. Cameron is a male and Ashley Marie is a female.

It confused me when I heard on air that there were two daughters. I have looked at the family pictures and stand corrected.

I still hope that Nancy is drawn to those children of whatever gender.

I am guilty of sleeping though this (tired from being in hospital still).

If anyone has a good recording and can make a duplicate...

That's three -- count it -- THREE different posters you've chastised for their respective evocation of the name "Jesus Christ" in this thread.

I sensed that the posters wanted to get in the faces of non-Christians.

No need for that at a funeral. And, if you'll notice, neither Christian minister did.

Hi, Onyx. I'm at work, but am recording it. If there's anything you want me to go back and check out for you, please be sure to let me know. I got a great sense of the majesty of the ceremony from the folks posting on this thread. This is one of FR's finest hours, in my opinion.

Let me take the opportunity of responding to you to post William Randolf Heart's famous poem about death:

"Song of the River"
by William Randolph Hearst

The snow melts on the mountain
And the water runs down to the spring,
And the spring in a turbulent fountain,
With a song of youth to sing,
Runs down to the riotous river,
And the river flows to the sea,
And the water again
Goes back in rain
To the hills where it used to be.

And I wonder if life's deep mystery
Isn't much like the rain and the snow
Returning through all eternity
To the places it used to know.
For life was born on the lofty heights
And flows in a laughing stream,
To the river below
Whose onward flow
Ends in a peaceful dream.

And so at last,
When our life has passed
And the river has run its course,
It again goes back,
O'er the selfsame track,
To the mountain which was its source.

So why prize life
Or why fear death,
Or dread what is to be?
The river ran
Its allotted span
Till it reached the silent sea.
Then the water harked back
To the mountain-top
To begin its course once more.

So we shall run
The course begun
Till we reach the silent shore.
Then revisit earth
In a pure rebirth
From the heart of the virgin snow.

So don't ask why
We live or die,
Or whither, or when we go,
Or wonder about the mysteries
That only God may know.

...and you know what, the media is SURPRISED...

The media are so accustomed to cheap PR events, photo-ops, and endless posturing that it has taken most of them until now to realize they've been dropped in the middle of an historic occasion. Many haven't realized it yet.

It's a cliche by now, but most of them don't know anyone who voted for Reagan anyway, and because of that they've been perfectly comfortable in the belief that his whole time in office was nothing but a bad dream. They'd better take a good, long look, because this is the America that's going to hit them in November. The smartest of them may take that little lesson home today; the rest will retire to their comforting illusion that the rubes loved Reagan but the Real Smart Folks didn't. That, after all, was their theme up until about four hours ago.

Two other thoughts. George W. Bush was brilliant in his absence - it made Kerry look like the cheap opportunist that he is. And second, Lady Thatcher at the head of the line was perfect. Just perfect. God bless her. And God bless Nancy Reagan.

Thank the Lord Jesus Christ and President Reagan for helping to give us the free lives we all live now. Thanks to Dutch for giving the left fits, then and now.

That's four. Would he like to try for thousands.

I still have a tough time with the finality of such ceremonies.

I have had to buy a suit, just for funerals.

It is one of those age transitions that we have to make, unfortunately.

Brokow on now talking about when he Inverviewd Clinton last year Clinton peppered him with questions about Reagan "I just wish I could have spent more time with him."

Chris Matthews: Bill Clinton and Ron Reagan Both were sons of Alcoholics. Did that play a role in their development as political figures? (OMG, What a sleaze!)

Brokow and Mathews continue talking about Clinton and Reagan's drunk fathers.

i'm from a tree family (Roosesvelt democrats, Non-voting members of the family; voting democrat because he's a personal friend independent; etc) but I've always been a conservative (even at an early age)

For me, it's always been Ronnny Ray-Gun! So I guess that would make me a generation Ray-Gun!

My husband and I are so much a part of Generation Reagan, that we named our daughter Reagan.

Even though he suffered so these last ten years, I loved knowing he still walked the earth for all these years. I'm glad he has been mercifully released from the bonds of Alzheimer's disease to live on with God our Father in Heaven, but there is such an emptiness here on Earth. We have lost a great, great man.

OK - I had read on some earlier threads that Patti and Ron were liberal in their politics. Wasn't aware about any personality splits. Didn't notice Maureen's adopted daughter there either.

The older ones are probably celebrating that President Reagan is gone. All I heard for years every time Reagan's name came up was, "Iran-Contra." I never did think that Iran-Contra was a big deal. If it got the hostages freed, who cared? I personally think it was a pretty smart move.
