Thank you for overcoming my bandwidth bashfulness. For me, this is THE picture of the Bush administration. It summarizes everything we have been through as a country the last few years. The fact that it was the girl's father who took it and with only one exposure in such an chaotic moment is a miracle. It is a shame that non-journalists aren't eligible for the Pulitzer Prize, but I doubt a picture showing a conservative in such a sincerely compassionate moment would ever be permitted to win even if her father were a professional photographer. This is the real George W. Bush. May God bless our nation and our President.

Apparently, there was no media there and the photo may have been taken by a friend or family member. I'm not 100% sure about that but the photo was kinda hard to find anywhere but at snopes which does not allow linking to images. I found it on this site. With this:
Attached is a picture of one of my best friends in the Army, Mike McNaughton. He stepped on a landmine in Afghanistan Christmas 2002. President Bush came to visit the wounded in the hospital. He told Mike that when he could run a mile, they would go on a run together. True to his word, he called Mike every month or so to see how he was doing. Well, last week they went on the run, 1 mile with the president. Not something you'll see in the news, but seeing the president taking the time to say thank you to the wounded and to give hope to one of my best friends was one of the greatest things I have seen in my life. God bless him.
