Editorial cartoonist Ted Rall recently made the news for penning yet another crass cartoon, this one denigrating Pat Tillman, the football star turned soldier recently killed in Afghanistan. Rall painted Tillman as a racist, bloodthirsty idiot who was just another cog in the "El Busho" war machine.

MSNBC.com decided to pull the cartoon because it "did not meet MSNBC.com standards of fairness and taste."

Blogger Andrew Sullivan called for a protest campaign against Rall and yesterday offered this enlightening Rall quote:

"The word 'hero' has been bandied about a lot to refer to anyone killed in Afghanistan or Iraq. But anyone who voluntarily goes to Afghanistan or Iraq [as a soldier] is fighting for an evil cause under an evil commander in chief."

Later Sullivan highlighted another Rall quote:

"My theory is that essentially, people don't like to think they're living in a country that's led by an evil, dictatorial madman. But they are, they are living in Nazi Germany, in Stalinist Russia."

In Rall's morally inverted view of reality, President Bush is equal to Hitler and Stalin, so by extension American soldiers under his command are jackbooted mass murderers, not heroes. Is it any wonder that Rall would find pleasure in kicking the corpse of a fallen American soldier?

Saw Rall on Fox last night. What a smarmy, smart-a$$, smirking little lefty he is! God, I hate people like him. I wish Fox had just ignored him and not given him any more of a forum than he already has.

Ted Rall is a classic doctrine, Grad School relativist. He reminds me of a more introverted Bill Maher. He throws these lines like "Tillman was a murderer" or "Bush=Hitler+Stalin" with a wink and a nod. He really thinks this makes him cute and garners him attention.

I don't think he even means to be malicious. He is so utterly devoid of any realistic frame of reference that he can't understand why all those blockheads get so upset. I see no use for him and nothing that can really be done about him.

Ted Rall is a dead weight loss. I can't help but look at this man and think what an utter waste.

What a useless pile of Donkey dung. Mr. Tillman had more courage and heroism in his feces that Ted Rall could ever muster in a million years. Another worthless ejaculate that ended up being supported for his hatemongering.

Note to Ted Rall, you deserve the worst treatment any human could muster on another. Because you desecrate those that paid the ultimate sacrafice so you can be such a coward and hide safely behind Hundreds of thousands that are willing to put their life on the line for mear pennies versus being paid for scribbling their name on some crap you call art.

After the 2000 elections, a friend of mine got into an email pissing contest with Rall (about whether Bush was "elected" or "appointed"). Not only did Rall answer my friend's letter, they actually went back and forth for quite a long time.

It surprised and puzzled me that he would spend so much time at it. Surely, he must've been getting tons of mail, even four years ago.

Allow me to offer an observation: the .17HMR has the virtues of being a relatively flat-shooting round out to 150 yards or so. At distances under a 100 yards, the bullet itself is pretty frangible - that is, it does not survive contact with its target sufficiently intact to provide reliable ballistics info.
