Allow me to offer an observation: the .17HMR has the virtues of being a relatively flat-shooting round out to 150 yards or so. At distances under a 100 yards, the bullet itself is pretty frangible - that is, it does not survive contact with its target sufficiently intact to provide reliable ballistics info.
