I remember that day well.
She fired the ags and instantly put in place a lot of virtual mafiosa types.
It would have been wise to fire all of clintongs appointees.
I said it on January 21st.
The terrorists told us on 9/11.

Don't you just love it that the public is refusing to let the liberals manipulate them!? ;)

For the record: Tonight, I believe our President sounded masterful, determined, and intelligent. I'll take intelligent over intellectual any time!

Beckel, "I see why the President doesn't give more prime time conferences".

Isn't Beckel just six months out of the drunk tank?

"These kinds of statements are unfortunate because you know that G_d has placed him in power."

Now if we could just get God to enlighten us on why Clinton was President for eight years...

I didn't attack him without cause.

He doesn't cut it in the intellect department.

He may have charm, charisma, Texas style, and be a good ole' boy (all good things) but he ain't a sharp tack.

He kept repeating the same thing, four times, as answers to different questions. That's why he has to answer questions like tonight's "Why do you have to appear with Cheney?" (at the upcoming hearing).

"One thing is for certain, though, about me, and the world has learned this: When I say something, I mean it."

That's an example of self-assuredness that drives the Europeans crazy and should serve notice on our enemy (both foreign and domestic)- who are provided aid and comfort by the Kennedy types.

Wesley Clark on H&C

Our gound tactics are not the correct tactics. We should be defensive and let Iraqis handle eveything else. Not very realistic in my humble opinion.

You mean the same Iraqis who ran away, joined the militants or refused to fight? OH YEAH Weasel that would be REAL smart! Who was stupid enough to make this moron a General?

That the other candidate is worse is your best argument FOR Bush?

No.

But you complained about W's ability to communicate and win people over......and I responded that Kerry is really a lot worse than that.

He puts people to sleep, he's really boring. He may not slip up his syntax, but there is no comparison on that score. W actually communicates better.

The rest of the issues, there is a huge difference as well......but you're not really interested in dealing with what I said, so I won't go into those until you do.

Weren't you complaining about lack of specific points here?

Why can't we have a decent man who is also above average in intelligence to lead our country and the world?

We do. Doesn't this guy have an MBA from Yale??

They won't even let me mow their lawn.

1. What was inspirational about the speech (we are at war)?

Freedom is granted to us by The Almighty. The Iraqi people have as much right to freedom as we do. This is a moment in history where we can change the world. We are the world's greatest power, thus it is our OBLIGATION to protect and defend freedom around the world. et al...

2. What made you proud to be an American?

I am proud to be an American for 40+ years, I didn't need a speech from President Bush for that. Having said that, he reinforced the FACT that we are the most powerful nation on earth, we are a liberating nation, not an imperial nation (ask the people of Japan, Germany, Kuwait, etc). What other powerful nation can say that?

3. What made you willing to sacrifice for the (war) effort?

Being an American citizen should be enough. In case it's not, remember that we have a representative form of gov't (republic) and our representatives voted in favor of this war. In case BOTH of those are not enough, President's Bush' unwavering committment to defend our freedoms, to go on the offensive against terrorists, his absolute commitment to win, his absolute commitment to stay the course as long as we have to, etc.

4. What specific points in the speech moved you personally?

Losing is unthinkable.

5. What inspired you with the president's mental acumen?

Mental acumen is not inspiring. Courage, conviction, committment...those are inspiring character traits. Most Americans would agree.

The president literally has the weight of the free world on his shoulders 24/7. He faces a hostile press/media who look for a hundred ways to 'nuance', spin, imply that he's lying, incompetent, lazy, a religious nut, and stupid. We've had a bad week or two in Iraq, with the press, Kerry, and the rest of the RATs doing their best to get us to turn tail and run. Tonight he wasn't just speaking to us. That press conference was aimed at the Iraqis, our allies, and the Muslim world. It would've been nice if he'd said we'd captured Al Sadr, who by all accounts is now trying to make a deal to keep his head out of a noose. I didn't catch GW's first statement, only saw the question and answer segment, but it was impossible to mistake the seriousness on his face and the care with which he chose his words.

Why can't we have a decent man who is also above average in intelligence to lead our country and the world?

Bush has an MBA. He's not a smooth speaker.

Bush has won TWO wars, got Ghadaffi to give over his WMDs, and has exposed the UN for the sham that it is.

That's pretty damn smart, smarter than the clownish Clinton, who was smooth as silk in a press conference.

The fact that you can't recognize Bush's innate intelligence reveals that you're not too smart yourself.

I'm as Conservative as it gets, which means I'm also honest.

Bush IS NOT any where near smart. I would guess an IQ of 85-95.

His 'heart' may be in the right place, but HE IS A DULLARD.
Is that just your opinion or do you have some basis for your silly contentions?

Ok Now you're talking, I'll take just one point. IF each of my fellow FReepers take one that touches their fancy, we can wrap this up tonight.

2. What made you proud to be an American?

This one is tougher than it looks. There is no way that any single person can inspire pride with a single speech. True pride in one's self, or one's country is developed over time. What the President could do is remind me of just why I am proud of the United States. Are we a perfect country? For the love of God, NO! But, also, for the Love of God, we try. Go to the green fields of Gettysburg, or the heights behind Omaha Beach in Normandy, and you will see the price America has been willing to pay to make this a better country and world. But each struggle builds upon the one before. A failure can undo the work of generations. Today the United States has once again fielded an "Army of the Free". Tonight the President made clear that he will not abandon the sacrifice of over 600 of our fellow Americans. The only way we loose is to walk away. He told us, and the Iraqi people that we aren't going to do that. That's what makes me proud, to be part of a people that will lay down their lives for the freedom of folks they don't even know.
