FREEPER RESEARCH PROJECT: Sources of FDR using Pearl Harbor in his 1944 re-election campaign.
Shameless Vanity
Posted on 03/05/2004 11:18:01 AM PST by CougarGA7
After SuperTuesday George W. Bush has started airing commercials as he embarks on his campaign for re-election. As we all know the media and democrats (I know, same thing) have been in an uproar about the scenes in the commercials from the 9/11 terrorist attacts. There have been many threads on the subject. Here are just a couple of examples.
"Furor" over Bush's 9/11 add (Media Bias alert)
Furor over Bush's 9/11 ad
I've already seen a "Remeber Pearl Harbor" button for FDR and the few campaign speeches I've found text for all have some form of reverence to Pearl Harbor.
This thread is for Freepers who are better web searchers than I to post FDR "Pearl Harbor" campaign speeches, pictures, buttons and references.

I'm tired of these democraps crying and being self-rightious about these adds. This thread is intended to give a central location of information to fight back.

Also, anyone know of any Clinton ads referencing either Waco (probably not) or the OKC bombing. I remember he made a speech in front of the OKC ruins, butI don't know if he mentioned wanting a second term to bring those who did it to justice during the speech. I can't beleive he wouldn't have used some pictures or references from it in his reelection campaign. I'm sure if he did, a FReeper will be able to find it.

Don't overlook Jimmy Carter. I can't remember any of his ads, but there might be something there about the hostages or Vietnam.

I don't have the direct quotes, but it is well known that FDR and the Dems used that war as a political tool because it would be "unwise to change leadership" during a time of crisis. There has got to be statments out there somewhere. In fact, when Dewey(?) was running, he was specifically taken aside and demanded not to mention "any" of the conspiracy theories surounding what FDR may have known prior to the attack on PH...becasue it could endanger the allies plans.

I think he wanted both very forgotten by the 1996 election cycle.

IIRC it was Gen. George Marshall who Talked to Gov. Dewey about Pearl Harbor (W/O consulting the Sec. of War or the President. He did not want PH to be an issue to protect our intelligence (ie: that we had broken Japanese and German Codes)
