Private property smoking ban poll that needs help (in my area)
Forsyth County Ga Gov. Web site. ^

Posted on 01/21/2004 11:01:46 AM PST by Craigon

If anyone one is bored at their computer, here is a poll in my area on a proposed county wide smoking ban in all public buildings (including private) that needs help.

www.forsythco.com

The anti-smoking Nazi’s are winning 2:1. Although...I’ve seen a surprising number of Freepers that gladly join this group, so the poll may move further in the "wrong" direction...Oh well..lol

I don’t smoke and hate the $25-$40 a week my wife spends on the blasted things, but I’m still flat out against forcing a private business to enforce a smoking ban.

Of course they are winning. The general non-smoking public are believing the lies of the anti's, and when only 25-30% of the people in the state are smokers, we lose polls everytime.

We need to get the non-smoking general public to be aware of what is really going on with this issue!

When a carton of my cigarettes went up to $45-$50 from state taxes, I started rolling my own. I roll a carton for a little under $8 dollars.

The money saved for Christmas is mind-boggling.

Get her to start rolling her own. It's a wonderful wonderful savings, believe me!

My ex used to smoke like a fiend while I was married to him. Got use to the smell but refused to smooch him until he brushed his teeth to get the taste out. I even defended his right to smoke. After we parted ways and my smell sense cleared up, I find now that I have a problem with cigarette/cigar smoke. I detect smoke within 3 feet of me and it's not pleasant. Doesn't help matters either to lose several relatives, including my 2-pack a day older brother, to lung cancer. My sorrow is knowing that my son smokes but refuses to give it up because he says "he likes it." He's addicted.

Why is it, when people enjoy something, they are automatically labeled an "addict?" I can't understand it. I truly enjoy smoking. If I didn't, I would quit.

I simply cannot picture "The Lantern", that roadhouse alongside Lake Lanier, with a No Smoking sign...

Bizzarro World Update: Yesterday on the Ron Smith Radio Show (WBAL1090AMBaltimore), I couldn't believe my ears. I didn't catch the dufus' name in Maryland Politics, but it concerned a pending Bill in Maryland to allow Dog's in Restaurants. Here's the bizzarro part, when asked why the Legislature would do this, the response was, because these are Privately Owned Businesses, and they should have the RIGHT to allow their patrons to bring in their DOGS if they want to. After all, more patrons means more business, and everyone benefits from that. You can smell that flea bitten hound while enjoying your meal, but God forbid you be allowed to finish your meal with a smoke, even if it is a PRIVATELY owned business. Good luck in Georgia! Blackbird.

Bump to rolling your own. Or, for those who can't be bothered: www.senecasmokes.com. Name brands for about $30 a carton.

FYI my son acknowledges that he's addicted since high school. However, since he's addicted and likes to smoke anyway even though he has money problems and can't afford the price of cigarettes, he refuses to quit knowing full well he experiences problems in breathing.

We moved to Henry County, GA with realitives two months ago and were used to cheaper smokes having lived in VA. I heard their Dem governor plans to raise the tax on 'em through the roof! When will they learn that backfires on them and smokers find alternatives (like you mentioned in your earlier post) rolling your own.

BTW, voted. Even though they don't care what we think when they push these restrictions through.

Here's a GA bump. If they allow smoking, I guess I'll be driving to the bars and eating establishments from Gwinnett where it is now banned.

I voted no, the persons who put up their money to operate the biz should be the ones who decide whether it is smoking or not.

Private property is no longer property in the good ole USA. We must fight back every time liberties are being threatened.

You are correct....he wants to increase the tax from 2.5 cents a pack to 75 cents.

I have a feeling that proposal is not going to fly with the retailers along the borders, and particularly over here on the Eastern shore. In the 8 miles from my house to the Maryland line there are no less than 6 cigarette outlet stores.
