Email/Letter writing campaign against The President's plan for immigration
Myself

Posted on 01/07/2004 7:45:17 PM PST by Remember_Salamis

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?

We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

He's there to SALVAGE Vincente before this election,

Salvage him for what? Vicente's term is half over --- and they have a one term presidency. If Vicente is unable to do much about the corruption and the only feather in his cap is that he got Bush to hand out blue cards to Mexicans --- I don't think that's enough. There is a lot of pent-up anger, immigration provides a safety valve --- but for how long? I know they're all afraid that the smallest limitation placed on immigration ---- and the whole thing begins to blow.

They've got a nice foundation of faith, family, community and life perspective

Only some do ---- and some of it isn't what we need. Massive migration --- people leaving their faith, family, community, and life perspective will only damage what strength they have ---- one reason Ciudad Juarez has become a hell hole within a short time --- the people are uprooted, their social fabric is being destroyed. Mexico City is facing the same thing --- it's becoming an extemely dangerous place and in a very short time.

The better thing would be --- instead of figuring out how to get more to leave would be to figure out what went wrong and how do you get them to stay and build the place up.

Fox is a Bush ally

Since when? The only time Fox is decent to Bush if when immigration is mentioned. Remember, when Bush needed Fox and Mexico at the UN prior to the Iraq war? Fox has hauled the US to the ICC in the Hague recently. Fox refused and publicly embarrassed Bush regarding a visit to the Crawford ranch. Fox is still reneging on the water to south Texas.

There will ALWAYS be a movement of financial, commercial and human labor capital across the American and Mexican border. FOREVER MORE.

The politically savvy, entrenched and successful will manage that movement. I like the guy in the Oval Office, thank you very much. This is a national issue, and with marginal due respect, I don't care where the FREEP any of you all live. Seriously. You need political power, or you get steamrolled. Running away next November tells me you are all just prime for a steamrolling. I hope it's the Bushbot Pubbies pancaking you with love, and not the Dean maniacs giving it to you with ill intent.

Fox refused and publicly embarrassed Bush regarding a visit to the Crawford ranch

If Bush INVITED him to the Crawford ranch ... there is nothing Fox could have done to "embarrass" the President. He understands the unique political limitations and changing domestic contingences that influence every National Leader he works with. The fact that Fox was INVITED to the Crawford Ranch speaks volumes to me. Bush understood fully that any number of developing political events within Mexico or in our international priorities that that would have to preclude Fox's visit. GUARAN DAMN TEED. Bush lets Putin posture, the Saudi Royals posture, Blair posture, Sharon posture and Fox posture because they are American allies. Chetrien, Schroeder, Chirac ... they're not invited to Crawford!!! EVER!

The dumbest political commentary, observation and calculations on Free Republic, hands down IMO, involve the U.S.-Mexican relationship. Every discussion here is soiled by anti-Mexican animus. It's a stench.

Great analysis Tex!

I see it with my three Los Angeles siblings. I know my two sisters voted for Clinton/Gore, and I think my brother was a Perot/no vote guy. All three of them ... who live conservatively, have Masters Degrees and professional lives and family obligations .... voted for Arnold in October and will vote for George W. Bush in November. They couldn't wait to TELL me when I saw them over Christmas! LOL!

They're the "pendulum" of our great political experiment. If Bush became too much like the guys we deal with here every day, they'd swing back to a Clinton. It's the great equalizer ... folks that live their lives as great conservative Americans and have spot-on instincts about which movement is "too far gone."

Bush is so damn solid right now, I see it with my family and friends daily. If Arnold was eligible, he'd win in 2008. He's going to be a spectacular success in Kah-lee-foor-nya. All the great political talent right now are men and women the howler monkees here consider Neocon RINOs. They scratch exactly where America itches at this juncture of our history.

I'm jazzed!

I definitely understand "posturing" by politicians. However, Fox was not posturing when he refused to back Bush with the UN regarding Iraq.

I usually keep up with the Mexican newspapers. However, I can't think of anything that Fox has really backed Bush on other than immigration. Even now the Mexican newspapers are saying that Bush is just posturing for the latino vote as he is not giving them anything.

Can you think of anything that Fox has backed Bush on other than immigration?

However, Fox was not posturing when he refused to back Bush with the UN regarding Iraq.

We didn't NEED Mexico's backing, so it wasn't demanded.

I know enough about the way Bush operates to know that he doesn't make any foreign leader fall on their sword publicly in tribute to him or the United States. Guys like Putin, Fox, The Crown Prince Abdullah ... many more ... do everything they can as an ally, in whatever backchannel or public domain that is of greatest domestic political benefit to THEM. Bush demands no more than they can give. It's an ongoing partnership. That's the way I do business too.

Iraq's oil treasures, potentially controlled by America, were a threat to Mexicos oil oligarchis/mobsters who make a lot of money selling oil to us. Fox is going to support our campaign? HUH? Watcha smokin' Willis?

I really, really admire and stand in awe of the way Bush leads. He has such intuity and selfless leadership. I'm a mark, what can I say? Bush is BETTER than Reagan. We're damn lucky to have him around .... America always finds the right man at the right time to lead us through our critically dangeours national perils. We found another one!

Hi, Arne! I agree. I don't think people are really reading the proposal or understanding its benefits. However, it is useless to argue. So, I will just send my support to the President and let it go at that.

Hi MM! I called the Legislative Directors of my two Senators and U.S. House Rep at 5 p.m. yesterday. This now becomes a Legislative initiative, and the three folks who have the most individual influence in my little political sphere, and who know me, understand my "take" on the situation.

That beats Tom Tancredo's fleshy face frightening us from every cable News Outlet he can pimp his appearance in terms of real life influence.

Bush is so damn audacious! LOL! I've never seen a guy with the courage, focus and instincts of W. That's why the lefties (Democrat and FR Paleo), HATE him so.

Bottom line ... we're prospering after grievous ambush, and we're WINNING the fourth world war against our mortal enemy assailants, after their sucker punch knockdown, because of his resolve, talent and leadership.

Let's all be P.O'd! ;^)

You do cheer me up! Thanks for the suggestion about talking to Senate and House staff. I will do that today as well.

I also am impressed with the President's leadership. It is a fascinating thing to watch him shape the debate and move the country. I also find it interesting who rants about him the most.

Reagan would never have handled THIS crisis with the aplomb of Bush. W is a younger man, with a more disciplined and well managed executive staff, and he's a guy who's watched President Reagan and President George HW Bush, admired their wonderful traits and studied their human and organizational weaknesses ... just by being a loyal son and a really situationally aware guy. Bush is far more agile than Ronnie, he just amped up the existing Cold War bilateral scrum to winning volume. Bush is rebuilding our entire military, intelligence, domestic LEO and ... just watch ... entitlement infrastructure to a new milennium excellence. He's deconstructing the Roosevelt/Truman dynasty for a new, more conservative American governance.

He's personally tougher on his expectations of friends and sanctions on foes than his Dad and Reagan. He has a more professional, empowered, effective and disciplined staff than both Ronnie and his Pop. Look, nobody since Kennedy had the communicative charisma and oomph of Reagan, and W isn't seeking or expecting that of himself. He's getting the job done as a multitasking CEO, which the Presidency requires if done right. After Clinton ... We're rolling! Reagan followed the dimwit Carter too. God help us in 2008, we need to keep the pendulum GOP right after 43's outstanding tenure.

Thanks for the compliments!! Back atcha Onyx! LOL

Read his post to me, MM. He's convinced me, and simultaneously, made me happy about the events of yesterday and of our future.

Arne is right --- GWB continues to out-smart his detractors.

We are indeed blessed by God to have GWB our president.
