Thanks for the ping, VHAW.
Beloved Heavenly Father,
Here on the eve of our celebration of the coming of the Life of our Savior, we find we are saying our good byes to a magnificent soul whom one of our friends knew as "Mother."
Father, we ask that you will surround this precious mother and help her on her journey Home. Grant her the highest rewards that your Great Law will allow. Grant her loved ones a Christmas miracle of communion and peace with each other. If it can be done according to your Will, grant each one a special spiritual experience. Surround this family with a large swaddling garment of healing and comfort. Assist them during this challenging and stressful time of mourning.
Words to give comfort are so difficult to find. Please, Father, supply the lack in our poor human inability to say the right things. Let this family and all who have suffered similar loss be granted the understanding that while we may be tongue-tied and awkward, we are nevertheless sincere and we do wish for your blessings upon them according to your Will.
Amen

Laughter and tears are so close together; it is good to see you good at it with the Sabertooth.
May you enjoy the loved ones you still have here all the more.

You're quite welcome. I'll tell you the story... My brother and I were talking, a few years back, about "whatever happened to Mike Douglas?" Our Mom was a huge fan, so, during the 60s and 70s, after "The Edge of Night" (the greatest soap opera of all time, btw), Mike was on for 90 minutes at our house, five days a week, from 3:30 to 5:00. One day, he was on the Rosie O'Donnell show, and I called my brother to make sure we each were watching. It was so cool. There was Mike, being Mike, except his hair was silver. Voice a little older, but... Mike. A few months later, he was a guest on a local radio show. I had to call. I told the screener my pitch, and she put me right on. Sheeeeee-oooooooot! Talking to Mike Douglas on the radio airwaves... how cool is that? So, I told him about my Mom and my brother, and about seeing him on the Rosie Show, and then I told him what I'd told the screener... "When I heard your voice, I realized I'd heard it more than that of any other man, when I was growing up, other than my Dad's. Much of what I know about music, and about popular culture, I learned from watching your show. Thanks for all of that, and it's good to hear your voice again." He sounded quite touched. We had a nice little exchange.
Soon, and for the rest of your life, you'll hear something... maybe when you're at the produce aisle at the market, or at the gas station, or wiping your kitchen counter... Your Mom's voice. Savor those moments, and remember that they are ongoing Christmas gifts. Merry Christmas. |

What a great testimony to your mother. I'm sure the Lord was waiting with open arms and the first words she heard was, "Welcome home, my good and faithful servant". He will take care of you also.

After dad passed away, mom raised us kids by herself. (our ages at that time were 19 yrs. to 2 yrs. old) She put us through school and whenever any of our friends needed a home to go to .. our door was always open to them. She had a hard life, but never complained about it. She would always say, no matter how bad things got for her, there was always someone else who needed the help more. What an absolutely remarkable and wonderful woman. All of Heaven is rejoicing as they welcome her home.

are such a big part of FR that I have to say this as well, THANK YOU for your very personal contribution to this fine community. The quarterly drives (for a start) would not be the same without you. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Freepers are thinking about you today! I thought I would add my thanks to Mo also. She is a blessing to all of us.

I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss! I join with the others here lifting you and the family up for God's special blessing and peace.

What a magnificent woman she was. Thanks for taking a moment to tell us more about her.
I trust she does stay close in spirit to you ... I think we'd all do well to be "closer in spirit" to her where her determination and steadfastness were concerned.
Take care, Mo1. You'll be in the thoughts and prayers of many.

(((((Maureen))))))) My sister in law Nancy just lost her Mom this summer to Alzhiemers. She said it was like losing her Mom twice. But also like losing her for such a long time too. I know it was horrible to watch her Mom go through this.. and I know you know what she is talking about. Just know that my heart goes out to you.. and that I care deeply.
God Bless you sweets.
