December 17, 2003 -- ESPECIALLY now that the capture of Saddam Hussein could turn the Iraq war into a positive for George Bush, Howard Dean may turn to Hillary Rodham Clinton to be his vice presidential candidate. And, especially now that Al Gore has un-retired, Hillary might just accept.

You seriously misread Hillary's intentions if you think she's going to be content to sit on the sidelines and grow old and wrinkly.

If VP is all she can garner in 2004, rather than become irrelevant, she would take it -- because she would control the White House as surely as she ran her husband's administration. (Dean beware.)

Dick Morris knows that outcome would be a first-class disaster for the nation, again, and that she must be stopped. Don't fool yourself. She's power hungry.

In the dem mythology, the greens divide their "natural" majority, so I guess it isn't to far fetched.

I still think there will be something out of Hillary however. She can't bear to be off the National stage. Her self accessment won't stand it.

I know her intentions...but events have conspired against her...lok, if not for 9/11, she was going to run in 04...now, she's stuck till '08, and that's a long time...

Now that Morris says Dean-Clinton is a possibility I can rest asured that Hillary would never be on his ticket.

Hillary isn't afraid of Gore, especially when Gore sinks with Dean. This hypothesis is preposterous.

We know two things for sure, there will be a Presidential race in 2008 AND Hillary will run for the Dem nomination. What we don't know is who will be the GOP candidate and we need to shore that up in the next two years so that it's not the GOP infighting while Hitlery has full party support.

Now, she's stuck till '08, and that's a long time....

That's my point. It's too long to wait. The Clintons will lose the power of the party purse when Dean forces McAuliffe to walk the plank. She's got to stay intimately involved to avoid hurting her chances in 2008. That's why she was pushing Lieberman and then Clark in order to slow Dean, while stealing the spotlight and not a little campaign cash.

Morris is exposing the problem with sunlight, and you're saying he's babbling and using too much disinfectant.

He's babbling, insanely, because she will never take the VP slot.right now it's about keeping control of the DNC, and the only way to do that is to let Dean implode the party in 04, then Hillary can come in as the savior...

Agreed -- should have read "for up to four years" -- probably closer to four days.

There is, however, an interesting question as to why she chose Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) to accompany her to Afghanistan and Iraq rather than a favored Dem candidate unless she had already given up on them, perhaps adjusting her strategy to make herself more attractive to Dean. I appreciate that Reed was in the Special Forces and could educate her, answering questions she would have in confidence when she didn't understand things she was seeing, and other candidates may have been unavailable for the trip, her "gift" to our troops. What do you think?

The candidate will need HUGE name recognition. Beginning January 1, 2005 the GOP needs to begin the campaign for 2008. The frontrunners should be with Bush often and with other GOP leaders often as well.

I think she would.

I do, too. It would be a matter of tactical maneuvering. If she can't take the presidential nomination at this time she would take the VP slot because by appearing on the ticket she would receive a certain measure of qualification validation, setting the stage for the future...

Someone in the Clinton White House left that list of 58 dead on Linda Tripp's chair for a reason. Dean should take note.

Hillary has already done the math and determined that after the Dean/Democrat implosion there will not be a viable national party for years. Until and well beyond Nov 04, Bush and the national Pubbies will receive only growing positive news from Iraq/Mideast. Saddam's historical trial coverage worldwide will alone, drown out anything the foolish candidate Dean will say. Baker's trip overseas is sealing the fate of our reborn allies. Bush, the consummate poker player, holds a pat hand permitting Baker to negotiate with the French and Germans just how much they are going to lose in the game. Brokaw, Rather, and Jennings have already dramatically modified their reportage. Come November 04 we should expect a Republican juggernaut. Republicans have controlled Washington purse strings nigh 10 years now. K street expects it to continue and so does Hillary. Jumping ship is her only chance to remain in the limelight. The only remaining question in my mind is how much is she worth to Carl Rove?

A reason why WE might want the Hildabeast on the RAT ticket is that she's sure to fare poorly in the debates.

Correct...but if the party is in tatters, she steps in the day after election day, takes control,, and assuems the mantle of candidate..and deflects all challengers...Hillary doesn't want to go the primary route...she wants to be annointed...she becomes the putative 08 candidate the day after the 04 election, and with the DNC under control, all the resources go to the 08 WH campaign..remember Dean's folks will take control of the party in the spring....to boot them out immediately wil rerquire a massive purge...which can only happen if dean suffers a huge defeat...

I agree that the resulting power vacuum would naturally suck her into de facto party head. But, would that satisfy her super-human ambition? In charge of a seriously damaged political party doesn't get her to the Presidency. Notwithstanding her liberal past, a reformed Hillary could bring huge sex-related dividends to the Pubbies and Carl Rove understands this. Today, she's quite enamored with George Bush's Iraq coup. Tommorrow she might announce she's a suppy-sider. My guess is that currently she is quite busy researching Margaret Thatcher's life.

She could tour America attacking Bush while showcasing her candidacy for four years hence.

And that's just what America needs, isn't it?<------dripping sarcasm

The Jr. Janitor of New York's ".........Democratic party presently offers no ideas – other than to preserve and protect the welfare-regulatory state status quo at all costs. Her intellectual bankruptcy is proven by the fact that she (like her party) has no ideas of her own. She’s afraid to articulate her real ideas, of course, because if she did she would end up like she did after her infamous 1994 health care debacle. So Hillary, like her supporters throughout the country, are left with a single emotion and a single policy: bitterness. What happens if someone like this ever gains real power"? Ummmm......Hillary as VeeP
On another thread the thought that 2 years would be about the time for THE "tragic accident" to occur.. thereby freeing Hillary for 2 more runs (2008, 2012) plus the remaining 2 years of "the marks" term... makeing 12 years paving the way for "President for Life" status... after a few amendments to the Patriot Act of course...

Slap...Slap...back to reality..

The only question "IS" whos "the mark"... probably Weasly Clark hes the only one dumb enough in a Stuart Smalley kind of way.. Gore signing on to the Dean camp was the kiss of death and Liberman is a loose cannon useing democrat party logic... nah!... Weasly is the mark... after all hes a "GENERAL" ain't he... Hillary as VeeP candidate in 2004 in an election they have not a prayer of winning would position her as democrat number 1 option in 2008... becuase Weasly will still have 4 years to reach room tempature after "THE suicide" after losing in 2004 (clinical depression you know)...
