Was Jesus Christ A Married Man? (NYPost Review – “a tad confusing – pretty pictures”)

And was Mary Magdalene his wife?

Apparently, a lot of people will be upset if the answer to both these questions is yes.

As explained in tonight's "Jesus, Mary and Da Vinci" - a new ABC News prime-time special inspired by the best-selling novel, "The DaVinci Code" - proof that Jesus of Nazareth was a married man enjoying conjugal relations with his wife would upset the apple cart, so to speak, of all of Christianity since Jesus' divinity has been based for so long, at least in part, on the notion that he was celibate.

And some say Jesus survived the crucifiction and moved to France, I'm sure we'll see a big-deal special on that old fable too someday.

Jesus wasn't celibate. He was chaste, because He is betrothed to the Church.

The conclusion of the Bible is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Well, they say He's anything but what He is.

Interesting that we all have to be openminded about this and not take offense because there are other opinions and beliefs that Christians always have to take into account.

Go Mel. I can't wait to see The Passion of Christ.

Critics be humbled.

This has been around for alooong time. Hitler believe it, one of the reasons he wanted all Jews dead in Europe. He believed as many did that the direct desentant of Jesus was in EU. The only was to stop the possibility the the Son of God would come back to destroy the Evil. Apocolypse.

The Freemasons were the first participants in this theory. Not only was DaVinci one, but also Victor Hugo, etc. The cathedrals of early Eu were built on this presumption, the builders were sworn to secrecy, and were called Freemason.

It sounds really boring to me.

But I’ll probably get flamed for noting that I'm really looking forward to seeing that CBS Reagan flick! That one sounds hysterical!

My wife's reading the book -- she says it's quite a page-turner. Maybe it is, too. Certainly it has the elements of a compelling tale.

As for me, I find myself wondering whether Dan Brown is one of those standard-issue "disaffected Catholics," who tend to impute all sorts of sinister things to the Catholic hierarchy....

Gee...I wonder if they'd ever do the story: "Was Mohammad a slave-owning, polygamist?" It's simply amazing how Christianity is the only religion that encounters such scrutiny, while other religions are off-limits.

"Or at least, that's what I think the show is trying to say. If I'm fuzzy on the details, then it's because I'm Jewish."

"As I understand it, the novel, which I haven't read..."

Why is this article even being written by this joker?

...knew about the story of Jesus' marriage to Mary Magdalene, along with the possibility that they had children, since early in the church's history...

Not by me. I read The Da Vinci Code last month and thought it one of the best mystery novels I've ever read. I'll be watching with you.

Yea, me too. Nancy Reagan made all the major decisions and Ronnie was a dull witted religious fanatic! Fantastic plot!

For those who have an interest in the subject, the book "The Templar Revelation" 1997, Touchstone press by Lynn Pickett and Clive Prince deals in detail with the Leonardo Da Vinci code and other topics related to the Templars and Mary Magdalene in France.

The book expands themes developed in "Holoy Blood, Holy Grail" and the "Messianic Conspiracy".

The authors are British and it is notable that an essentially British line of scholarship under way for perhaps 20 years has made mainstream American TV.
