TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

I also want to mention that the Senate version may be different from the House version.
How's that for a stall tactic?

It appears that a more "global" (long-affecting) law would be MORE IMPORTANT to the millions of seniors in FL. See, a single-issue law can be ignored.
A law affecting EVERY (potential) senior who MIGHT become hooked to a feeding tube, with relatives eager to suck their blood/money as a death-threat IS important to the legistlation in FL.
(And, in everything) the number of people affected determine how the legistlators vote.

I don't get it. The article says the bill goes to the Senate at 8:00AM, but the Senate's website says they're not convening until 6:45PM.
Are they going to jump on this or not?

Nite!
I better sign off, feed the cats, and get some sleep.
Goodnight everyone. Thanks for the welcomes. :o)

Thanks for the ping. I watched the session. I'm sending thank you emails tonight to the representatives who voted YES.
Have sent emails to the Senators. Prayers for their support tomorrow.

"Please, please view this as an amazing victory. I do."
SO DO I!!!!!!
I just got home from work, having last posted or read anything at 2:30 PM Pacific.
It was with a heavy heart that I logged on, and as is my habit, went first to World Net Daily for the latest. I fully expected to see the usual crushing news, and practically fell out of my chair when I saw this DRAMATIC development! THANKS BE TO GOD!
INCREDIBLE AND WONDERFUL DEVELOPMENT.
PRAYERS CONTINUING FOR THE SENATORS.
May God grant them widom, courage, and compassion.

I have been praying the same prayer that some brave soul is slipping her water. But at this point Teri is going to need more than her tube re-inserted. There is s good chance her kidneys may be shutting down and be septic. She should be rushed to ICU in my opinion. This poor poor innocent sweet child of God's. Please hang on Terri God loves you and so do thousands of other people. You have made it before and you can do it again. You are tough and you never wanted to die or you still wouldn't be here

Heads up. The folks here did a good running commentary during the vote on the Terri Bill today. The vote was posted at 7:13 pm tonight (sorry I don't know what post number it is). I thought you might like to see it when you have time considering you build one kick email machine last night. Oh, and sorry about the server. ;-)

What woman would choose to continue living with a man who's set up and had children with another woman ... what woman in that position would be comfortable with that man's making life or death decisions P>I missed this man's name. He was after Smith to speak.. He began by saying he was truly honored to be there and as you said, brought up the "thou shalt not commit adultery".
I have been emailing thank you's to those who spoke and voted for Terri and would like to know this man's name, if you have it.

Your link to all Florida Senators worked fantastic!
I addressed my email "Please Save Terri", and began my letter "Dear Senator"
The "Thank you for contacting Senator..." replies are streaming in now!
I hope the Senators open their email boxes.
To: yesnettv
post 898 worked for me.
Did an email pop up after you hit the link?
After the email popped up, all I did was add to the subject line and type a note.
I did not do anything to the address line, it all went automatically to the complete list when I hit "send."
To: Robert A. Cook, PE
There are many seniors in Florida who have specifically directed in their living wills that feeding tubes SHOULD NOT be used in their situations.
I would hate to see a law that would impose across the board insertion of feeding tubes on ALL patients, even though they had made the decision, in sound mind, and legally certified, that they would not want one.
To: JustPiper
Howdy ! Sorry I'm so slow getting back to you. I was away from the 'puter since yesterday afternoon. It will be 1 week tomorrow since they stopped her intake. What a terrible crime, huh ?
I haven't followed this story closely so not sure of the details regarding her hubby, but it seems he is getting more protection than poor Terri is. G-r-r-r-r !! ...

Michael's letter was well-crafted to evoke sympathy until the point where he blames the court for deciding to remove the tube.
Michael Schiavo wrote :
Some people do not agree with the decisions the court made to remove Terri's feeding tube. I struggle to accept it myself.
