Trump Must Be Pleased With the Way the Republican Race Is Shaping Up
DNYUZ ^ | May 27, 2023 | DNYUZ

All told, the Republican presidential field might end up almost as large and divided as the one in 2016. Which is to say that the 2024 Republican primary is, at this stage, shaping up to be a retread of the one that catapulted Trump to the commanding heights of the American political system.

Once again, it is clear that many Republican elites would prefer to have someone other than Trump at the top of the ticket. But once again, those elites — donors, intellectuals, activists — are having a hard time finding a single alternative candidate to challenge the former president. DeSantis was supposed to play that part, but he has struggled to gain a foothold with Republican voters and has shown a tin ear for the challenges of national politics. As of Friday, he is far behind Trump in nearly every major poll of the national Republican primary electorate.

If DeSantis continues to recede, other candidates will try to claim his spot as the party’s main alternative to Trump. And therein lies the problem. As long as there are multiple candidates vying for this position, Trump has the political space he needs to consolidate his support, which is still much greater than his rivals’.

Trump is the only NON-CAREER politician running. Period. Nothing more needs to be said.

OK Vivek is another one, but he has no chance at nomination.

If Trump was only going to get 40% of the primary vote, this article might have some merit, but the reality is he’s going to get 60% or more of thr primary vote, so it doesn’t matter how many folks jump in or how few…

That’s exactly why so many Republicans still support him and will not budge from his camp. The career politicians have put this country in the mess it is right now.

Can’t speak for others, but I did see DeSantis as a threat to Trump. But then DeSantis joined the Uniparty regarding Ukraine (after first siding with Trump), and so now as people get to know DeSantis, we see him dropping into the pack that’s trying to split up the 25% of the GOP vote that is NOT supporting Trump.

Exactly, in 2016 Trump was never much over 30% until near the very end of the Primary season.

This year, it’s looking more like Trump is the incumbent and a bunch of others are just looking to get their names in the news, but not even close to posing a threat against Trump.

In other words, although this is technically an open race, it’s not really that.

Vivek is not a politician. I think he would make a good running mate for Trump.

Once the primaries start happening, I suspect we will mostly see a bunch of fake contenders kissing up to Trump for cabinet positions.

You lie. Trump has been a career politician for eight years.

The Biden student loan voter bribes are going to get paid apparently.

“Republicans had sought to repeal Biden’s efforts to waive $10,000 to $20,000 in debt for nearly all borrowers who took out student loans. But the provision was a nonstarter for Democrats. The budget agreement would keep Biden’s student loan relief in place”

Trump and DeSantis might want to play a friendly round of golf instead of fighting each other to try to become president.

De Santis will have to live with the same legacy that poor, wonderful Sarah Palin lives with.

She resigned instead of finishing her job.

I couldn’t believe it when, DeSantis, whom I respected at one time, is DOING THE SAME THING.

I am baffled as to why he could not wait and in the NEXT election be the landslide elected new President.

Very Poor Advise.

All career politicians entered politics at much younger age and most never ran a big business or had a non-political career.

Trump ran for president in his 70’s FOR FIRST TIME IN POLITICS.

I am sure your IQ is high enough to understand simple facts.

That does not imply the 2020 election student loan voter bribes will not be handed out.

Overestimation of their appeal to voters.
And you make a very good point.

I have posted similar thoughts, if RDS waits for 2028, he would enjoy high odds for nomination and general election success regardless of Trump winning or losing in 2024.

But the pressure from elites was too great obviously for RDS to skip 2024.

My take is different.

The Republican wing of the Uniparty is trying to fill up the debate stage with tomato cans.

Tomato can is a boxing term used to identify those who are non-competitive opponents.

I would advise Trump not to debate anyone on any stage provided by any broadcast network or any of the three so-called cable news networks.

Filling the debate stage with tomato cans has its advantages for the Uniparty.

Trump would win a one on one debate with Ron even if the moderator is in the tank for the Uniparty.

But more candidates means less time for both Trump and Ron which is probably good for Ron because expect him to be programmed much like Little Marco was programmed in the New Hampshire primary when Krispy Kreme Christy sent him into the blue screen of death and effectively ended his candidacy.

The Uniparty doesn’t believe in free and fair elections.

They want to stage show elections as they tried to do when they thought they had it in the bag with getting Jeb the nomination.

Filling up the stage with tomato cans is just for show.

“landslide elected new President”

DeSantis has a slim chance now due to Bideninflation.

By 2028 the invaders will be grateful voting US citizens and the Democrats will be invincible.

As I remember 1931 was the last time Chicago had a Republican mayor.
