Exactly, in 2016 Trump was never much over 30% until near the very end of the Primary season.
This year, it’s looking more like Trump is the incumbent and a bunch of others are just looking to get their names in the news, but not even close to posing a threat against Trump.
In other words, although this is technically an open race, it’s not really that.
More than just publicity, they are looking for campaign cash which they can channel into their pockets.
