Now that he has very likely secured the GOP presidential nomination, Donald Trump has turned his attention to a running mate. Trump brought Ben Carson on board to help him decide on a VP nominee, but don't count on it being Carson. The former Republican presidential candidate announced Thursday he was taking himself out of the running. When asked who Trump was considering, Carson reportedly mentioned a wide candidate pool that could include Democrats.
Carson told The Wall Street Journal, "We would consider people who are Americans and who put America first." If that includes a Democratic name, the chances of Trump bringing together an increasingly divided GOP party seem almost impossible.
In fact, who Trump ends up choosing will be important, considering Paul Ryan's remarks about needing the presumptive presidential nominee to unify the GOP. It's entirely possible that, once he gets to the Republican National Convention in July, the delegates won't accept his choice.
Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski doesn't think that's likely, though. "I cant imagine any scenario where the GOP nominee doesnt have the opportunity to pick his own vice-presidential candidate," he said.
Regarding his decision to drop out as an option for vice president, Carson said: "Im not interested in doing that for a number of reasons. I dont want to be a distraction. Im sure you remember how crazy the media was about me, I dont want to be a distraction, its too important a time in our life."
In March, Trump's former rival endorsed him for president. "Theres two different Donald Trumps," he said at the time. "Theres the one you see on stage and then the one thats very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully."
Webb could be involved in a capacity dealing with the military active duty or reserves.
No, I don’t like Webb at all, but I will say this: he would be better than Kasich.
She supports Bernie. Buddhist is not an issue, The Bern is...
Sheriff Clark would be a dream ticket !!! Allen West another dream ticket!!!!
He is a dem because he agrees with the Dems over 90% of the time. Webb is a pro abortion, big spending guy who was a great soldier and is not a nut on gun control. But he is a nut on CO2 and a DREAM Act kind of guy.

That’s not what you said before. According to you, NBC requires to citizen parents and a US birth. You refused to agree with anything Jim said for the last 12 months, why are you starting now?
Nonsense article, phony headline, no quote like that from Carson anywhere in the article. You try too hard.
Bernie isn’t going to win the nomination.
(I agree it is unlikely this Tulsi person will be Trump’s running mate. But it is the scuttlebutt).
I agree she is an attractive lady... Mixed European and some South Pacific Islander mix... I think Samoan
“Allen West another dream ticket!!!!”
That would work if Trump has Newt as Chief of Staff to help with Congress.
Love Zell!
I agree with that.
What makes anyone think Trump is worried about "dividing" the GOP? Isn't his whole appeal to be an non-establishment outsider? Wouldn't it be perfectly in character for him to select a Democrat running mate-- one that purports to "put America first"?
I can't believe that any sane person considers Trump any kind of Conservative. Trump is mostly a liberal, but he's also a populist running under the Republican banner, who has made himself attractive to disillusioned Conservatives by tapping in to many big issues we care strongly about. Let's be honest here.
On the other hand, if he chose a Democrat as VP, wouldn't it explode as many heads among Democrats as it would among Republican voters? It would certainly make things even more interesting.
“Im down with him on the reinstatement of dueling ;o)”
I have been saying that for years! Dueling would make social discourse much more respectful and decent...
Jim Webb.
Isn’t Clint Eastwood eighty?
No. Hard no.
A couple people on this thread seem to be entertaining the notion. WTF?
