BREAKING: Romney’s campaign finance accounts reactivated for 2016 race
Christian News ^ | March 3, 2016

Posted on 03/06/2016 6:04:43 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

New information is surfacing about Mitt Romney and his 2016 plans following the 2012 presidential candidate's nationally-covered speech on Thursday morning.

The former Mass. Governor and Republican nominee for President spoke out against Donald Trump, calling the Republican front-runner a "phony" and "fraud." He urged Republicans to unite behind another candidate, yet declined to indicate which candidate he would be supporting.

An in-depth look at Romney's campaign finance activity, however, shows that the former candidate may be gearing up to take another shot at the White House.

In late January and early February of 2016, Romney's campaign finance entities, which by law are subject to FEC regulations, were both reactivated with amended campaign statements.

FEC records indicate that Romney's former campaign committee, Romney for President, and Romney's affiliated PAC, Romney Victory Fund, were both reactivated earlier this year, making them legally able to solicit donations and organize for his presidential campaign.

The above FEC documents can be found on the FEC websites here and here.

The Christian Times Newspaper spoke with several campaign finance professionals and campaign finance attorneys to further understand this move.

One told us that Romney "would only be making these changes" if he in fact "was going to run for President in 2016."

Another, a former McCain finance staffer indicated that this evidence shows "without a doubt" that Romney has plans to run as a Republican this year.

In the days and weeks following Romney's Trump-bashing, it will be interesting to see whether or not the 2012 candidate makes any further moves to run in 2016.

Not sure Mitt could pull enough votes. Most people held their nose the first time for him. Trump would pull more dems than Mittsy would gop.

you’re nuts. you are much too emotionally invested in Trump to see that Cruz is easily 10x the conservative that Trump pretends to be. nobody is perfect and Cruz’ lateness on the H1B visa issue bothers me, but Trump is at best a Bloomberg-style RINO, while Cruz is actually a real conservative and has been all the way back to his days at Princeton and Harvard. the smears against Cruz need to stop or you’re going to alienate all of the real conservatives before the November election. Trump won’t win if conservatives stay home.

but he can beat Trump

It's not about beating Trump. It's about splitting the vote, giving Hillary the win and maintaining the status quo in DC for the "Republican Party".

Cruz and Trump should unite to take out the corruption on both sides. It will be historic.

Working with ryan to push TPA trough congress giving obumber a free hand to give away American jobs an sovereignty with the blessing of congress is not conservative. Voting to give obumber a free hand to make any deal he wants with Iran with the complete blessing of congress is not conservative. And lying to Texas voters to get elected Senator. Because Texas would never have elected the first Canadian United States Senator if they had known the truth about his Canadian citizenship. That is not the act of a conservative.

After last week’s speech he is totally irrelevant. Maybe he doesn’t realize it, but everyone else does.

With Cruz taking money from donors & special interests he does nothing to stop the corruption in DC. A ticket of Trump/Cruz, financed by voters only, would be powerful.

I don’t just claim Cruz is deceiving people I post links, often, to prove it.

As for Trump it’s not about him. This stopped being about him a long time ago when the entire U.S. government, national media, and right-wing media came after him all guns blazing. It’s us or them and Trump represents us. No other candidate is a true outsider with no financial ties.

As Newt often says, we need someone to go to Washington and kick over the tables.

Ted Cruz thinks that Romney is here trying to help him LOL, Cruz is about to get a HUGE wake-up call, Romney doesn’t want him winning either. My dream ticket has ALWAYS been Trump/Cruz(Or the other way around I really don’t have a preference) if they would just see what is happening and see they are BOTH at war with the Establishment maybe they could come together

_____________________________________

I wasn’t aware that Cruz believes Romney is trying to help out here. If he does believe this, I truly hope he wakes up and smells the proverbial coffee. As you aptly noted, “they are BOTH at war with the Establishment...”

I realize Trump and Cruz are opponents in this primary, but they should unify around this issue. These two men have the opportunity like at no other time to destroy the establishment which allowed Obama to “fundamentally transform” our nation.

If Cruz and Trump set their sights on the GOPe and what they’re doing, I truly believe they have the power to destroy the GOPe! I believe this common cause could at least, to some extent, unify both camps.

It’s official.

The GOPe crony-criminals would prefer a Democrat establishment President to a Republican outsider President.

That’s why he’s front and center. He has the machinery in place to pull something off like this. He’s narcissistic enough to believe that we voters will fall in lock step. I will say this again to all the Cruz supporters who think that he’s just dandy for going after Trump, your guy will be kicked to the curb too.

Wow. These guys are serious. I’m trying to imagine some legitimate reason this would be done. I can’t think of one. Who in the hell is advising him this is a good idea? I mean really.

If they are truly intending to do this, the Republican Party is finished.

This is really ugly.
