New information is surfacing about Mitt Romney and his 2016 plans following the 2012 presidential candidate's nationally-covered speech on Thursday morning.
The former Mass. Governor and Republican nominee for President spoke out against Donald Trump, calling the Republican front-runner a "phony" and "fraud." He urged Republicans to unite behind another candidate, yet declined to indicate which candidate he would be supporting.
An in-depth look at Romney's campaign finance activity, however, shows that the former candidate may be gearing up to take another shot at the White House.
In late January and early February of 2016, Romney's campaign finance entities, which by law are subject to FEC regulations, were both reactivated with amended campaign statements.
FEC records indicate that Romney's former campaign committee, Romney for President, and Romney's affiliated PAC, Romney Victory Fund, were both reactivated earlier this year, making them legally able to solicit donations and organize for his presidential campaign.
The above FEC documents can be found on the FEC websites here and here.
The Christian Times Newspaper spoke with several campaign finance professionals and campaign finance attorneys to further understand this move.
One told us that Romney "would only be making these changes" if he in fact "was going to run for President in 2016."
Another, a former McCain finance staffer indicated that this evidence shows "without a doubt" that Romney has plans to run as a Republican this year.
In the days and weeks following Romney's Trump-bashing, it will be interesting to see whether or not the 2012 candidate makes any further moves to run in 2016.

im a conservative. the most conservative of the big 3 (Cruz/Rubio/Trump) is Cruz.
You are just plain wrong. Working with ryan to push TPA trough congress giving obumber a free hand to give away American jobs an sovereignty with the blessing of congress is not conservative. Voting to give obumber a free hand to make any deal he wants with Iran with the complete blessing of congress is not conservative. And lying to Texas voters to get elected Senator. Because Texas would never have elected the first Canadian United States Senator if they had known the truth about his Canadian citizenship. That is not the act of a conservative.

Lindsey Graham will be pleased. Now someone can run and get fewer votes than he did.

But But Romney said he had NO interest in running for President again/sarc..This is ALL about him trying to make up for the DISASTER of a campaign he ran in 2012, he couldn’t get Conservatives to vote for him yet he thinks it will happen this time around

Are all the Romney bots going to jump back in as well. He deceived many, much as Cruz and Kasich are now doing, and he might still have a following.
If we split our vote we’re done but you can’t reason with Republicans. We may end up losing the revolution in the end. They have their plans laid out and believe me, they’re going to fight us to the end.

What exactly is behind the curtain of corruption they dont want the people to know?Corruption.

Ted Cruz thinks that Romney is here trying to help him LOL, Cruz is about to get a HUGE wake-up call, Romney doesn’t want him winning either. My dream ticket has ALWAYS been Trump/Cruz(Or the other way around I really don’t have a preference) if they would just see what is happening and see they are BOTH at war with the Establishment maybe they could come together
To: jersey117
Romney is going to jump in because the powers that be dont want either one of them. Cruz and Trump
Garbage, stop lumping cruz in with Trump. cruz is part of the GOPe. He sides with them at every opportunity, look at his support for TPA and his vote for the corker bill. Trump would never betray America that way.

As long as conservatives stay home, when they don’t a candidate the like, nobody could win.
I hope Cruz beats Mitt.

Skip the primary and win the general without the voters...sound familiar? Jeb’s only mistake was actually going through with the primary instead of doing things the Mitt way.
I have no doubt that in pre-primary polling, Mitt did not fair well. He knows he can’t take on Trump via the voters, so instead he wants to be the new anointed one of the RNC.
