Cruz backer sees senator ‘drafting’ and ready to take the lead

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is making a three-day campaign lap around the state, with stops in 14 cities.

“I just want to say thank you all for being here. Thank you for standing up. I’m here asking for your support, asking for your help. We are building a grassroots army,” Cruz said to conclude an appearance at the Windrow restaurant in Creston on Saturday afternoon.

Wally Miller of Creston was there to show his support for Cruz.

“He’s the only one that makes sense,” Miller said, adding he has a screening test for candidates. “When I look at someone, would I trust them with my grandkids or my chores? And I would.”[continued]

Re #11:

I think Trump’s support is limited. I think too many people, including Republicans, still view him as a loudmouth. If he wins Iowa, NH and SC he will be hard to beat. If he doesn’t I think it will come down to Cruz or Rubio.

I like Cruz. I favor Cruz. But that has nothing to do with it. Cruz is a dry speaker and sounds like Mr Haney from Green Acres. Rubio is polished and a damn fine speech maker. I just think he can pull more votes.

Now, having said that I will admit that my history of prognostication is HORRIBLE. Just ask President Kemp.

“Besides, Trump has a higher IQ than Cruz.”

Maybe yes maybe no. That really doesn’t matter. The fact remains that Trump knows how to fire up the base like no one else does.

That’s what it takes to win...

Cruz has made his money from Government. Trump is smarter that Cruz. Any questions?

Really?

WHY ?

I know lots and lots of people who wouldn't vote for Rubio if their lives depended on it.

IQ? I would rather have wisdom. A wise man can control his mouth. Trump has the most undisciplined mouth in American political history.

Rubio has some plusses as a candidate. See what Artemis Webb wrote about Rubio in post 21. I’m all for Cruz, but I could see Rubio winning the nomination.

Reuters rolling 5 day has Cruz drafting the “I wouldn’t vote” people. Trump at 32, Carson at 16, Bush and Rubio ahead of him too.

Cruz is the only one I would vote for if it isn’t Trump. The rest are Democrats in drag.

Oh I saw it, but he isn't going to win the Florida primary and won't win many, if any.

Old Sweaty, slimy, AMNESTY MARCO will NOT be the nominee; that's for certain ! And I'm a rather good prognosticator.

Cruz is an inside the beltway politician—Trump is not. Trump has achieved much in his life—Cruz has not. Trump cannot be purchased or bought by donors or special interest money. Cruz is very vulnerable financially and can be bought by the special interests. We need a son of a bitch in the White House to clean out the Augean Stables and reform the federal government and put the fear of God into our many enemies. Cruz is not a son of a bitch. Save the nice guys for who you women take to bed with you but keep romance out of the goddamn ballot box.

My standard has been I wouldn't vote for someone that I wouldn't invite to my house for dinner.

A good standard!

Obama would not be invited to my table.
Hillary would not be invited to my table.
McCain would not be invited to my table.
Jeb! would not be invited to my table.
.....et al

The list is LONG.

I would welcome Cruz or Trump to dine with me.

I think he’d got a really good shot at winning Iowa. That should be a nice boost.

One thing that bugs me: Cruz’s “events” appear to be taking place in little restaurants, small little meeting places, etc.

A shrewd candidate will only book a venue fitting the crowd he can draw. Boosch books the smallest venue avalable, and still can't fill it. Cruz can't nearly fill a sports arena or stadium like Trump, so he goes small.

This should give you a hint.

Trump and Cruz are both brilliant.

Both have Mensan level IQ and both are smart enough not to actually belong to an outfit like Mensa..lol

Both have photographic memories... of different types.

Cruz has the audible type..he remember anything he hears or anything he reads (remembers the minds narrative voice saying the words as he reads) It’s why he can recite things like the constitution so easily...wish I had this ability. It’s no wonder he is a great lawyer.

Trumps memory is the more general type.

Hey! Cruz married a Wall Street banker! More than I ever did!

Please clue us in how you arrived at that little gem of conclusion! Or is it all based on gut feeling?
