With Ben Carson still on his tail, Donald Trump nonetheless holds his lead in Iowa, while opening up commanding leads in New Hampshire and South Carolina. According to a new poll out from CBS News/YouGov, Trump leads Carson 40-12 in New Hampshire, 36-21 in South Carolina, and 29-25 in Iowa.
Ted Cruz comes in third in Iowa and South Carolina with 10 and 6 percent, and John Kasich comes third in New Hampshire with 9 percent of the vote, in a poll of likely Republican primary votes.
In perhaps a telling sign of why Trump, who leads the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, and Carson are doing so well, when asked what's most important in a candidate, voters most frequently responded that it was "their experience getting things done in business and the private sector." This answer registered 36 percent, 39 percent, and 38 percent support in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, respectively.
Further, it outpaced answers such as "they are a true conservative" and "their experience getting things done in policy and politics." It also ranked higher than "they can defeat the Democratic nominee."
Candidates considered thoroughbreds before the primary season continue to languish in this new poll. Rand Paul registers 6 percent in New Hampshire, tied with Jeb Bush.
Marco Rubio is currently fourth in Iowa at 6 percent, and Scott Walker continues his tumble, losing front-runner status in Iowa, the lynch-pin of his campaign, and registering 3 percent support in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Well, I’m still sticking with Cruz. You never know what can happen.
Then when Trump got in, we were told "no worries", he won't last. He's not a serious candidate. He's just promoting the next season of his Apprentice TV show. He'll be out by Labor Day and then we'll get back to regular business.
Well, that's what we were told!
Also, who'd have thought that Rick Perry would be the first one to drop out! Poor Rick.
And in 6 months it may not be going as it is now . Not if the GOPe have anything to do with it . Neither the Dems or Rats ( practically one in the same ) want Trump for obvious reasons , not east among them is they don’t want to be wearing orange jumpsuits in 2017 .
pardon typo , Dems or Pubs ( well , most are rats ) ...
no Moe Perry
“And in 6 months it may not be going as it is now .”
Didn’t they tell us this 3 months ago?
At what point does the media and professional pundit class start to admit they were wrong?
Question: If elected should Trump rename the Republican party the USIP (United States Independence Party)and invite Nigel Farage to address Congress?
My democrat relatives now prefer Trump over Hillary! They finally have concluded democrats are not the right answer to so many issues. I think the illegals issue won them over to Trump, more than anything else.
The all out assault on Trump is under way . The upcoming debate ( with the exception of Cruz ) is going to be one , joint blitz attack on Trump with CNN leading the charge .
This has been the most interesting campaign.
I still intend to vote for Cruz in March.
It’s looking more like Trump is the only way to stop The Cheap Labor Express.
And they will look like the fools that they are, finally.
lets see what happens around Dec. maybe Nov.
Debate blitz followed by massive anti-Trump TV ads . Bet on it .
Trump will get a lot of Reagan Dem’s, millenials and a good chunk of the black vote. My son is 21 yo and will vote for DT. He doesn’t need the Hispanic vote.
Are the votes going to be counted in Spain again in 2016 ?
“The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do.” Joseph Stalin
Nobody believed the BS up till now and they won’t believe it later either. Look for his approval ratings to go up.
