ATLANTA Jeb Bush, who has fought the perception of conservatives that he is not one of them, journeyed into the lions den on Saturday. While he may not have converted every skeptic at the RedState Gathering, a conclave of anti-establishment Republicans, he persuaded more than a few to give him a second look.
After Mr. Bushs solid but largely unmemorable outing Thursday in the first Republican debate, where he was overshadowed by the pyrotechnics around him, he came across in Atlanta as having tamed his wonkiness, and as being confident in defending positions he knew were unpopular with many in the crowd.
I for one believe that, and Im going to stand on that, Mr. Bush said in detailing his immigration views, which are crosswise to those of many conservatives. He earned applause for that line, as he did throughout a 33-minute speech and question period in front of activists whose tastes run to more avowed conservatives like Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana.
Mr. Bushs advisers said beforehand that they had accepted the invitation without high expectations....

LIONS DEN?
More like the bbq den.
EErikson, big talk about freedom, better at bbq’ng
ah, of course. the NYT, known for it’s conservative DNA, says that jeb bush gets applause at a gathering of reliable conservatives that just uninvited donald trump because he acted like he was megyn kelly’s gynecologist. even though ted cruz just got a standing ovation at the same gathering.
it’s all a setup.
Jeb Bush cheered at RINO State? Shocker.
If Bush got a standing O as I read elsewhere, the people at his speech are not conservatives. Legalizing illegals without citizenship is a lie. The ‘rats will see to that in no time flat and Bush knows it.
Jeb is no RINO, Jeb represents what the Republican Party has Always stood for.

Yes it is. This was the reason. The beginning of the resurrection of Jebus Ischariot Bush.
Sure: two blabbermouthed cons’
It couldn’t be any clearer to me. Very sad.

All the Bushes AND the little leftwing, fast-talking con Ricky, are deluded
EL Rinaldo knew reality
What really ticks me off is that they think we’re all retarded, inbred, hillbilly drop-outs.
I suddenly realize how right you are...we’ve had it backwards for a long time!
All true and real conservatives support former Clinton financier Trump, who enjoys their advice about things like running for president. Sure, they’re all pro-abortion, pro-gun grabbing, but Trump is now the real deal, especially if it helps Hillary. And don’t forget he’s not afraid to be vile, vulgar, and crass, the way the PC crowd stereotype conservatives. He knows that’s what conservatives really are.
You’re normally on this site to support Putin, though.
John Ellis Bush appreciates your support, I imagine.
Bingo! Nixon was no conservative either.
Conservative, Bush III? Not very. What is with those RedStaters?!
