"No, not at all."
That was reality TV star Donald Trump's response to ABC's Martha Raddatz Sunday morning when she asked him whether he owed John McCain an apology for suggesting that the Arizona Senator wasn't a war hero because he had been captured during the Vietnam War.
If you were expecting anything else from Trump, you haven't been paying much attention to his presidential campaign. Or his life. Trump's appeal in the 2016 race appears to be built on saying things and acting in ways that other politicians would never dream of doing. Trump, to his credit, appears to grasp that fact.
"I will say what I want to say, and maybe thats why Im leading in the polls because people are tired of hearing politicians and pollsters telling the politicians exactly what to say," Trump told Raddatz.
The fact is that apologizing after a comment judged as ill-advised (at best) by most politicians is exact opposite of the Trump brand. The sort of people who misspeak and then try to clean up their messes are the very people that Trump derides -- and that he believes the public can't stand either....

Neither should he ever.
McCain was an accidental POW, not a hero.
He should apologize after McLame apologizes for calling you and me “crazies”.
Donald has no intention of being POTUS.
He couldn’t afford the pay cut and divestiture of assets.
He wants to be a kingmaker.
My money is on Ted Cruz being that king.
Once he has reduced the GOP establishment hacks to a whimpering, smoldering heap he will withdraw and hand his supporters over to Cruz.
Yet another apology thread?
The MSM should start an apology network, where they can parade around all the reporters and leftist feigning their offended and butt hurt.
They could run it 24/7.
“Oh man...perfect. That’s it. So sick and tired of someone saying something and then someone cries about it until the spineless jellyfish fold...”
You mean like O’Malley?
Trump said 3 times that McCain was a POW and for some people that makes him a war hero. For being shot down several times because the other guy was a better pilot.
McCain got out of the Keating mess because he was a POW.
I consider people who actually killed Nazis like my 92 year old Uncle a war hero or Audie Murphey.
I have three times to Cruz already and he contacts me more than my 6 year old daily looking for more $$$$.
Hilary is defending McCain. I predict he will endorse Hilary. He’s an elitist scum.
Sheryl Atkinson wrote a column that showed how the media dishonestly edited and selectively quoted Trump.
Trump’s point and a good one is that getting captured does not a hero make, eg. Bergdahl.
Also, nothing wrong with either student, parental, or 4F deferments.
The media gave Clinton a pass for going to Canada yet they have the nerve to question Trump’s selective service history.
Every campaign does that, it’s not just his. They can’t afford to leave any $$ lying around, especially with a Hillary and a Jeb in the race. Don’t take it personally.
McCain will support Hillary
Just like he supported Kerry
Its surprising.
Two emails at least a day, and a mailing every other day.
Not to mention the calls from Texas. Lol
Presidential politics is akin to war.
He's not letting anyone or anything redefine what he wants to say. No compromise, no apology, no surrender.
Yep!!

Al Frankenstein wasn’t excoriated; there’s a huge double standard ....
As to what Trump said....
“Trump on!”
When will McCain apologize for leaving other POWs and MIA behind
and cutting off their only life line?
McCain is a sell out who gave up all rights to respect as a POW. He above all people had a responsibility to the man left behind in Laos.
He lead the charge to seal the POW MIA records and to declare that none were left behind.
He was on a mission to open trade.
Bergdahl deserted. There's a difference. That individual is no hero.
There are a lot of good, patriotic Americans whose service time included as POW. By using such a blanket statement, Trump did himself no favors.
We can, and do, disagree with John McCain. But Trump's use of such a foolish and ill-advised statement painted with a broad brush, missed the target and caused collateral damage. It's entirely appropriate to criticize him for that.

McCain, traitor to all POWs
