"No, not at all."
That was reality TV star Donald Trump's response to ABC's Martha Raddatz Sunday morning when she asked him whether he owed John McCain an apology for suggesting that the Arizona Senator wasn't a war hero because he had been captured during the Vietnam War.
If you were expecting anything else from Trump, you haven't been paying much attention to his presidential campaign. Or his life. Trump's appeal in the 2016 race appears to be built on saying things and acting in ways that other politicians would never dream of doing. Trump, to his credit, appears to grasp that fact.
"I will say what I want to say, and maybe thats why Im leading in the polls because people are tired of hearing politicians and pollsters telling the politicians exactly what to say," Trump told Raddatz.
The fact is that apologizing after a comment judged as ill-advised (at best) by most politicians is exact opposite of the Trump brand. The sort of people who misspeak and then try to clean up their messes are the very people that Trump derides -- and that he believes the public can't stand either....

Trump should understand that the MSM marches to an always advancing clock, and time will move on to the next issue. This will pass by, unless Trump gives them the excuse to keep making it a story. A media-coerced apology would be that excuse. Just ask Trent Lott how it works.

Oh man...perfect. That's it. So sick and tired of someone saying something and then someone cries about it until the spineless jellyfish fold...
“I will say what I want to say, and maybe thats why Im leading in the polls because people are tired of hearing politicians and pollsters telling the politicians exactly what to say,” Trump told Raddatz
BOOM!
They want to take him down and nothing is working.
Woo Hoo! Way to go Mr. Trump!
The compost thinks calling Trump and his followers crazies is fine !
mcahame needs to apologize and retire
Regardless of how anyone feels about Trump’s political stances, it’s refreshing to finally have a candidate that talks about the issues openly and forthrightly while not letting the MSM and the party aparatchik define the narrative. Go Donald!
Seems to me there were more POWs in Vietnam than John McCain.
Can you name a few? Probably because they didn’t go out and trade on their status.
I’m not faulting McCain for playing the cards he was dealt, but I’m smelling some emotional cordite in the morning here.
I like Ted Cruz, and I want him to be president. But I sure wish he would act more like Donald Trump!
We used to wear POW bracelets for them. Are you old enough to remember them?
Suddenly Trump makes it ok for conservatives to review mccains history and question a few things.
Geesh, it’s not like Trump sat there talking about how he decapitated a full term baby and sold its liver for profit.
Did Trump lie? Did anyone die?
No! Trump is laying the groundwork for Cruz, precisely Cruz has all of the good stuff that Trump has without all the obnoxiousness. Trump is changing the conversation of this entire campaign, which is benefiting Cruz more than anyone. Trump will face, and Cruz will be there to pick up the pieces. In the meantime, Go Trump Go!
s/b Trump will fade.
Poor little rag that lies, doesn’t like that
there was no apology ... for the rag’s lies.
McCAin owes an apology for “crazies” and for every
women and man raped, killed and enslaved by ISIS.
Then there is his coverup of Benghazi and his
protection of the Obama the Undocumented Indonesian.
I’m not a Trump supporter. I don’t agree with him on a variety of issues. I think that he is Flash in the Pan who is experiencing his day in the sun and will soon drop in the polls.
Having said that, I think that the travesty is this: Trump said, McCain is a war hero. The press is reporting that Trump said, McCain is not a war hero.
Hello? Helloooooo? The question isn’t How low can Trump go?, but How low can the media go?
Will go up 3 points slamming McCain. Lol
Now I want Cruz to rise and break out.
Tagline.
