[history]
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Public health interests prevailed over warnings that personal freedoms are being eroded as the Maine House gave its final approval to a bill to ban smoking in bars and taverns.
Representatives' 95-47 enactment vote sent the measure to the Senate and put Maine a step closer to joining California and Delaware in imposing statewide bans on smoking in bars. New York's ban starts in July, and Connecticut's newly enacted ban on smoking in bars takes effect next April.

Either a smoking ban in the work place should apply to all employees or no employees. The smoking bans are based on the false assumption that second-hand smoke is harmful.
Universally imposing bans based on junk science and political agendas is an affront to freedom, explaining your smug delight in their spread, lady.

I said ONE of the most wanted items. I'm certain it was in the top ten and likely in the top five. And your statement that the military doesn't want smokers is crap. If they didn't want them to smoke they could ban them all from smoking but they don't. Boot Camp, the way I understand it, is about learning discipline and that's likely part of the discipline part.

No I just need it for the Airbrush dude. I know what I'm getting myself for Daddy day now. Thanks HONEYGRL.

LOL You're Welcome!

I want to make it clear that I absolutely hate smoking. Cigarettes make it hard for me to breathe and I hate breathing smoke. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke on the clothing of smokers and it makes me sneeze.
Having said that, I do not believe it proper for the states or cities to ban smoking altogether. As long as restaurants have sections separated so that I, as a non-smoker, have a place to eat without being bothered by smoke, I am satisfied.
If you smokers want to pollute your bodies with smoke, that is your business. Just don't force your nasty habit on me. I, on the other hand, will not force my non-smoking on you.

They are anarchists and libertarians. They use the law--which they created--to control the proles. Fascists use jointed trunchions.

Come on, RW!
Real libertarians don't give a damn how any adult goes about killing themselves as long as they don't take anybody else with them and the so-called anarchists are a joke!
Organized anarchism?

Maybe you aren't a liar. Maybe you are dumb. Maybe you don't know what a fascist is. Clearly you don't know what a libertarian or anarchist is.

The government has not modified my behavior in the least. I continue to smoke at will. I speed, I run red lights, I smoke weed and drink while driving, I jaywalk.Presently you either don't smoke in schools, airports, planes, public building etc or you don't enter them anymore.

You 'ougnt not use foreign words, nor large words, nor complex sentences conveying subltle ideas with VRWC. Small words, short sentences, repeated often works best with the doomed inhabitants of the Bell Curves left side.

Just don't force your nasty habit on me. I, on the other hand, will not force my non-smoking on you. That is all we ask. Seperate accomodations is a fine way to deal with it.
Let the property owner decide.
We don't really care if a property owner decides to go non-smoking, as long as it's the property owners decision.

The argument that you have already conceded is the one about whether SHS (ETS) is harmful.Rifts, there is no argument here. The smokers current points including private property rights is getting creamed in the political arena. 2 to 1 loss is about as bad as anything that could occur.
As for the SHS subject, the politicians are using it to cover the employees on bars and restaurants to trump private property rights and its working.
As for my viewits not that SHS is dangerous or not its just that the laws for business owners should be uniform.

That doesn't mean they can't buy them in the base PX and doesn't mean they can't smoke them when the CC says, "Smoke 'em if you got 'em."

If they didn't want them to smoke they could ban them all from smoking but they don't. Boot camp is three months. If they wanted them to smoke they would allow it during their free time. If banning it from boot camp isn't a hint that they don't want that behvior I don't know what is a hint.

Libertarians use the law to control the working class?
" Libertarian \Lib`er*ta"ri*an\ (-t[=a]"r[i^]*an), a. [See
Liberty.]
Pertaining to liberty, or to the doctrine of free will, as
opposed to the doctrine of necessity."
I'm not libertarian (yet)but I wasn't sure you actually knew what the word meant the way you used it. I've met quite a few libertarians on this board and they are far from anarchists.
