Berlusconi told the refugees to get lost. Unlike our (dare I say it) traitor in the WH. Bush wants to make it easier for illegals to come into our country? *Sigh*. We're doomed. Doomed. Doomed. I don't even know what to do. He's out of control. Maybe he should be recalled.

It doesn't take federal funding to make it easier for wetbacks to cross the border...does it? Something's wrong with this story. Are we going to pay Mexicans to come here? If not, then why does it take more money to ensure they get across the border more easily?

I need more medicine. Either I am going completely nuts or the rest of the world is and I am not sure which right now.

President Bush yesterday requested new funding to make it easier for immigrants and day workers to cross Mexico's 1,951-mile border into the United States...

Will the government pay me to go to Mexico?

"[W]e want to use our technology to make sure that we weed out those who we don't want in our country — the terrorists, the coyotes, the smugglers, those who prey on innocent life," he said.
Hmmm... he omitted Illegals.

The president began his three-nation tour by vowing that "two-bit terrorists" who killed nine persons in Peru on the eve of his trip will not stop him tomorrow from becoming the first U.S. president to visit the country.

"Two-bit terrorists aren't going to prevent me from doing what we need to do, and that is to promote our friendship in the hemisphere," Mr. Bush said just before he left Washington.

Mr President, Illegals are not our friends.

He added: "We cannot let the terrorists take over freedom-loving societies. And we will not."

Mr. President, should we let the Illegals invade our freedom-loving society?

Could you give us a sign that you feel otherwise?

Upon arrival in Monterrey for a U.N. conference on financing for development, the president held a trilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Mexican President Vicente Fox, whom he had hoped to greet with a new amnesty measure for illegal immigrants.

Senate Democrats yesterday scuttled that plan by postponing action on competing border-security bills, one of which allows immigrants with outdated visas to remain here while their residency applications are being processed.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, South Dakota Democrat, said yesterday that he will not raise the issue until after the Easter recess, which ends April 8.

Score one for the Democrats. I'm sure his motives are foul, but I'll take Daschle's postponement for now.

I'm quite pleased that President Bush wasn't able to pin his Amnesty corsage on Vicente Fox in Monterey.

Bush should agree to excise his Trojan Horsed Amnesty from the Homeland Defense bill, and propose it out in the open for all of Amnerica to see.

I explain it as the good part of what's going on.

Amnesty is the bad part, and Bush should stop playing games with our Homeland Defense.

If he wants to push Amnesty, let him do so in broad daylight.

Yes, Bush says the border is a semi-permeable membrane. Only mexicans can flow north. Non-mexicans are unable to penetrate the border in the opposite direction.

From the a.m. of 9/12/2001 onward, for what seemed at least for about 4 or 5 months, you couldn't hear a PEEP! in support of illegal alien regularization and amnesty. Fox and Bush gave up (tabled it till more opportune times).

That is because, for one beautiful moment in American history [albeit unfortunatly based on a tragedy], a thick cloud of COMMON SENSE descended upon America with regard to open borders and illegal alien amnesty or 'regularization'.

Politically-correct liberals were cowered in silence. RINOs who support this nonsense were silenced. People on FR who support open, pourous borders and an eventual fait d'accompli acceptance of illegals were silenced. They could not speak up because probably nearly 90% of the American people were radicalized and were in no mood for this nonsense.

But now the cloud has lifted, Bush has seen his chance, the liberals and RINOs have come out of the woodwork with all kinds of justifications.

It just makes you sick that the Return to Nonsense in America on this issue took a little over six months. I, for one, thought they wouldn't dare to rush this through for at least a couple of YEARS.

I once heard a really inexpensive and effective means to improve border security:

For every illegal alien apprehended we simply give them a job... take them down to the border and hand them cinder blocks and cement and tools, everything they need so that they can help build a really nice wall. Pay 'em too. Why, when they're done, they'll be well off enough (and buffed to boot) to go home, live well, buy weapons, and dump their crooked government.

As for all the Salvadoreans and Guatemalans etc, just give 'em the weapons and ship them home, er, maybe do that in reverse order. Hmmm... I think that plan needs a little work.

You misunderstand the story. The funding is not to help illegals. It's to make it easier and quicker legal border crossings. Keep in mind that every day tens of thousands of people legally cross the border. Bush just wants to upgrade our border facilities so that we can provide better service and security. If anything this will make it harder for smugglers to sneek people across the border.

President Bush yesterday requested new funding to make it easier for immigrants and day workers to cross Mexico's 1,951-mile border into the United States, while insisting that border modernization will hamper the drug trade and prevent entry of violent criminals

I could admire Bill Sammon's sense of humor..if this travesty wasn't really happening...

Amnesty is the bad part, and Bush should stop playing games with our Homeland Defense.

Amnesty won't harm our homeland defense. It will harm the rule of law. It is an unnecessary compromise. Personally I think that it might be a sign of how worried the Bush team is about the upcoming elections. They are doing a lot of bad things now, just to attract 1 or 2 percent of the rat vote. (which could be a big deal in an election.) Rush talked about this yesterday. He said Bush should use his high approval ratings to explain the conservative position to the voters. Instead he is trying to steal rat issues.

If he wants to push Amnesty, let him do so in broad daylight.

I think he is.

Welcome to the New World Order. GW is working to complete a borderless continnent in the Americas. This is part of the NWO agenda. We will be merged with latin america in an atempt to reproduce the EU in the Americas.

How on earth can my president turn his back on me and shove this no border agenda, and amensty for MILLIONS of illegal aliens at you and I? I don't understand how he can behave this way and expect us to support him.

Conservatives are people of principles. IF GW is going to rip up our borders and give illegals amnesty then we may not give him any support come the next election.

They were stopped right in their tracks on September 11th.

They cranked up the Wurlitzer again, though, after a few months of increasing American apathy and lack of noticing things, and are now fully back to their old tricks.

What a way to destroy your conservative base in an effort to attract 1-3% more of the vote, that you might be lucky to get!

Amnesty won't harm our homeland defense. It will harm the rule of law.

Your point about the Rule of Law is well-taken, but what I meant was that trying to sneak Amnesty into this bill has delayed its passage. If it's passage is important for Homeland Defense, then the Trojan Horse is hurting it.

But someone else, I forget now who (maybe Joe Hadenuf), has made the point that Illegals are the sea in which terrorist cels can swim.

Or, to use another metaphor, if finding terrorists is like finding needles in haystacks, whats wrong with smaller piles?

The 'United States of Short Memory', indeed...... It will perhaps be the root of our downfall.

Pearl Harbor ('41), World Trade Center Attack #1 ('93), World Trade Center Attack #2 ('01). We always return to our vomit of complacency and naivety. It must be in the water.....
