Brooklyn Pol Dumps Portrait of 'Old White Man' George Washington

Brooklyn Beep Marty Markowitz said he will probably hang a portrait of a black person or a woman in his office in place of the country's first president, while moving the Father of Our Country elsewhere in Borough Hall.

"I respect history . . . but there has to be a recognition that this is 2002," Markowitz said. "There's not one picture of a person of color, not one kid, not one Latin. Borough Hall should reflect the richness of our diversity."

If the majority of the population of Brooklyn is non-white then why should'nt they pick their own heroes? Let's face it, whites have their heroes, blacks have their heroes, Hispanics have their heroes etc. This is a balkanized society, like it or not. Go anywhere and you will see people dealing with their "own kind." That's life. You're all fighting against human nature here. Now, no one put this issue to a vote in Brooklyn, perhaps they should have done so.

No! They are in America and should accept American heroes.
My parents are immigrants, but they became AMERICANS.
There are plenty of Jews I would like to see, but none whose paintings should replace that of Washington!
If these people hate America or put their racial desires above America, the door is open for them to leave.
Let's face it, whites have their heroes, blacks have their heroes, Hispanics have their heroes etc.

Washington isn't a "white hero." He is an American Hero!
This is a balkanized society, like it or not. Go anywhere and you will see people dealing with their "own kind." That's life. You're all fighting against human nature here.
Then we are looking at the destruction of America. Look at the term "balkanized." Do you know its meaning derivation? It mean divided on racial lines. It comes from the Balkan penninsula (everything from Greece to the Danube).
The word normally characterises relations in what was Yugoslavia. I refuse to see America collapse into the civil wars of that region.
The fact is that we are not Balkanized. Immigrants and their children are less than 20% of the population. We can reduce this by ending legal immiration and expelling illegal immigrants. We simply need the will.
Now, no one put this issue to a vote in Brooklyn, perhaps they should have done so.
And no one should. There was a law passed in 1932 that mandates the painting of Washington being hung. Every school without at least one in the halls, if not in each classroom is in violation of that law.

If these people want to use their races to seperate themselves from our culture and laws, we should seperate them from this country!

In California as of this writing only one-third of the children being born are white. About 50% are Hispanic and about 6% black and 6% Asain. Therefore the demographic future of California is not white. Do you really expect non-whites to see George Washington as a hero? I know that theoretically they are supposed to but based on what I see around me I doubt they will. With a white minority in California I predict they (non-whites)will put up their own heroes. Who will they be? I don't know---Pancho Villa, Santa Ana, whoever. Again I never said this was either a good or bad thing. I just think that's what will happen. In Hispanic areas (around Los Angeles at least) Cinco Di Mayo is joyously celebrated while the Fourth of July is celebrated far less. At least one member on the L.A. city council voted to fund it with four times the money more than he wanted to fune the 4th of July celebration, saying that Cinco Di Mayo was a more important celebration than the 4th. His statement caused no major uproar in the area. In a famous game between Mexico and the U.S. in L.A., the predominantly Hispanic crowd booed the U.S. team while cheering the Mexican team. They also verbally abused Americans who cheered for the U.S. team. The story came in the L.A. times. I could give you numerous other examples of this (like Korean businessmen spending $20 million to build a statue of some Korean hero I never heard of, I think he stopped a Japanese invasion) but, for the sake of brevity, I won't. You all have a theoretical view of human beings. I'm not saying your view is wrong, it is just based on theory. Human beings in the real world just won't act like that. What people should do and what they actually do are not always the same. Human beings are tribal. They have been that way for 4000 years. I can't see it changing now.

...."Borough Hall should reflect the richness of our diversity."

There's nothing rich about the diversity movement. It's completley bankrupt.

*sigh* It's not as though we had no warning. Last week, I think it was, a new member of the New York City Council appeared on the Larry Elder radio show declaring he'd like to do likewise in the Council's chambers. Diversity, y'know.

On the other hand, if someone must remove a portrait of the Father of His Country in Brooklyn Borough Hall, the least they could do is replace it with a portrait of the 1955 Dodgers...

I sure HOPE you have you tongue in your cheek!

FLASH!

Pat Buchanan's newest best seller, The Death of the West
describes such historical revisions in great detail.

His book has been well received, save for a cadre of Pubbie numbskulls
who seem intent on rejecting reality...

the fact that the Romans killed Jesus and thousands of other threats to Roman rule of Judea is irrelevent.

Not quite.............

NIV Matthew 27:17-25
 17.  So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"
 18.  For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.
 19.  While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."
 20.  But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
 21.  "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.   "Barabbas," they answered.
 22.  "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.   They all answered, "Crucify him!"
 23.  "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.   But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"
 24.  When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"
 25.  All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"

NIV Mark 15:9-14
 9.  "Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate,
 10.  knowing it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.
 11.  But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead.
 12.  "What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked them.
 13.  "Crucify him!" they shouted.
 14.  "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.   But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

NIV Luke 23:20-24
 20.  Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.
 21.  But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"
 22.  For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."
 23.  But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
 24.  So Pilate decided to grant their demand.

NIV John 18
 29.  So Pilate came out to them and asked, "What charges are you bringing against this man?"
 30.  "If he were not a criminal," they replied, "we would not have handed him over to you."
 31.  Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law."   "But we have no right to execute anyone," the Jews objected.
 32.  This happened so that the words Jesus had spoken indicating the kind of death he was going to die would be fulfilled.
 33.  Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
 34.  "Is that your own idea," Jesus asked, "or did others talk to you about me?"
 35.  "Am I a Jew?" Pilate replied. "It was your people and your chief priests who handed you over to me. What is it you have done?"
 36.  Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."
 37.  "You are a king, then!" said Pilate.   Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
 38.  "What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him.

"He added, "I wasn't trying to say there's anything bad about all white men. I'm 56. I guess you'd call me an old white man." "

That's not what I'd call him.

The proper response would be:

a. take him from his office,

b. strip him naked,

c. put him in the stocks,

d. place a picture of George Washington before his face,

e. give him twenty five(25) lashes.

Comment: Consistently done these third world types would then understand; e.g. They are still third world types unfit to hold any office of trust.

However, the above would take spiritual strength. That seems lacking.

Re #123

Could I safely assume that California is a Kosovo of U.S. now? If they implement open border, basically the whole South West will be a defacto Hispanic nation. As you said, human nature at work. Just like in Roman times. By the way, are you prepared to accept another human nature ? Backlash from dominant white group. It has happened everywhere. Human nature works both ways. As a nation, America has to decide. Either to go along or hit a break. It may not be as inevitable as you think. Roman military ceased to be effective when it accepted too many Visgoth without proper indoctrination. They became a barbarian war band. By the same token, all social insitution will be more like Latin America rather than U.S. If you are happy with Mexico stretching from Chiapas to Main and Washington, this won't be a problem. Remember that you will be living in Mexico and any advantages of being in America will evaporate.

Sorry, Elsie, but I just have not found Indianapolis that exciting or attractive, despite having some very nice people. In the midwest, I'll take Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Chicago area in Illinois over the lower midwestern states any day!

Californians are HYSTERICAL when it comes to neighborhoods changing. New Yorkers have had to put up with constantly changing neighborhoods since the 1840s. Such is life. My problem is not so much Californians protesting excessive illegal immigration as much as many people I have met from Cali seem to have thought that their La-La land of perfect middle american suburbia would last forever.

Little man with big eraser, changing history. Do they teach any pre-1960 history anymore? I mean anything besides oppression?

Nope. I think the current history books devote one paragraph to George Washington, and six pages to Mia Angelou.(sp?) Parents should go to their school board offices and read the text books that are placed in public for review before adoption.

Unfortunalety this doesn't happen, only the libs take/have the time for such banal tasks,

Try looking in a history book. You still have those in Brooklyn, don't you?

Now, now, as dumb as these people sound, it's quite likely they cannot read.
