Alleged Islamic terrorists threaten to kill Pope in Croatia
Osijek, Croatia, June 7 (DPA) An organisation called Islamic front al Mudjehedin has threatened to kill Pope John Paul II, who is visiting Croatia, police said today.
Al Mudjahednin has sent e-mails to the official Croatian official news agency HINA and the Catholic news agency IKA saying they would assassinate the pontiff.
The sender said that their message was sent ''in the name of Allah'' and threatened to kill the pope during his visit to the ''fascist'' country.
Interior Ministry spokeswoman Zinka Bardic said that the Pope, who arrived in the eastern town of Osijek today, was not in danger.
He is due to celebrate an open air mass for about 10,000 faithful there.
The e-mail, entitled ''message to infidels'', was sent by an Ali Muhammed from the address muslim (a) bosnia.ba.
''By all indications, the message was sent from abroad and we have requested international police assistance (Interpol) and have been cooperating with Croatian security services as well,'' Bardic said.
The 83-year-old pontiff arrived Thursday afternoon for his 100th foreign trip and his third visit to Croatia since it gained independence from Belgrade in 1991. He is to stay until June 9.
Croatian authorities said earlier that around 10,000 police officers will guard the pope during his stay in the former Yugoslav republic.

All through Cold War I, millions in the West steadfastly refused to see that the USSR was waging war on us.
How long will it be before Christendom realizes that Islam is once again encamped outside the gates of Vienna?
Jan Sobieski, where are you?

Killing in the name of allah.
Why do people still believe this is a peaceful religion.
One only has to compare the life of Jesus to that of mohammed to see that it is not true.

This email has the stench of Serbia about it.
Nothing new. Lie lie lie lie. Shoot yourself in the foot, blame your enemy for shooting you (after all, if your enemy did not exist it would not have been "necessary" to shoot yourself in the foot, so it's his fault). Send a threat to one enemy in the name of the other. More of the same.
Balkans 101. Never take a threat at face value. Ask yourself: who will gain from this? Answer: Serb nationalists. Nobody else.
To: Ronly Bonly Jones
You are so right. Islamists would never want to kill the pope. Or anyone else. Really. Ask all the Christians in Pakistan. All those report about attacks on churches are all lies from Serbs. Really.

Go ahead and mock. You know I'm right.
Nothing would please the Serb nationalists more than to have the Croats and Muslims at each others' throats again.
What's YOUR agenda?
To: knighthawk
I just read your web page. OK, I buy that you're pro-American. And I appreciate that. But the fact is that the Serbians COUNT on your having anti-Muslim feelings (particularly since 9/11) and wish to use that to their advantage. They do this ALL THE TIME.
To: Ronly Bonly Jones
My 'agenda' is to warn people about the dangers of the islamists. Before 9/11 no one wanted to listen.
I don't care for Serb nationalists or Croatian ones.
I don't to see this world to turn into the backwards place the islamists turn every place into.

Fair 'nuff. But don't let your dislike of Islamists lead you into thinking that they're behind EVERY plot or threat attributed to them. Particularly in the Balkans. PARTICULARLY in the Balkans.
Serb nationalists make black-propaganda moves like this all the time. Truly.

Prayers for the Pope, Lord help Him, Hmmm.. I wonder if he thinks kissing the quran was buying time now. But I'm sure he has his reasons, its just that whenever we ask we only get, we are not learned enough to understand. Ok, I'm not Pope, but a snake is a snake and kissing it doesn't change it's fangs. Killing it will.

I think it happened back at some big interreligious shindig in Assisi. Supposedly an impromptu gesture of respect and perhaps it has prevented some catastrophe (The Holy Spirit works in strange ways sometimes.) Someone has a photo that has been posted over and over...I still wince.
