It is a question that has long puzzled historians and theologians... what DID Jesus actually look like?
And it seems casting agents are also prone to getting themselves in a tangle over Christ's appearance.
>>>
Dr Meredith Warren, senior lecturer on Biblical and religious studies at Sheffield University, told the Daily Mail that muscular depictions of Jesus aren't 'completely off the mark'.
She said: 'Jesus comes from a family where manual labour is the norm, and he certainly gets exercise with all the walking around.'

Just like today, beards tended to go in and out of fashion in the Roman world over the years.
>>>
Roman coins from the period show captive Judeans sporting short curly beards, which suggests this might have been the fashion of the time.

The Shroud shows us what Jesus looked like.
Jesus was black according to Fred Sanford:
“You don’t walk around Jerusalem for thirty years and stay white!”................
They know that Joseph isn’t his biological father, right?
Sure.
a pasty white Finnish dude playing Jesus in a movie by Mel Gibson??? LOL- heads on the left are exploding at this very moment!!!
Oh please, nobody really knows what Jesus looked like. This is Gibson’s movie and you will not be forced to watch it.
Of course you can always make your own movie and cast the people you would prefer.
;-D
He's 57 now.
Totally reasonable to cast someone closer to the age of Jesus when he was crucified.

I don’t think Jesus went to high school
>>They know that Joseph isn’t his biological father, right?
(slaps forehead) OF COURSE! Okay, he looked like THIS!

I think you’re right! Resembles the picture of Jesus in the pocket-sized New Testament I got in my third grade Sunday school class. Except he wasn’t winking. Same lamb though.
Yep, I tend to agree. There are too many unusual and inexplicable things about the Shroud, not to believe it is miraculous. IIRC, one of the people who were part of the team investigating it years ago, was a secular Jew. After being a part of this team, and experiencing/examining the Shroud up close, he came to faith in Jesus. I forget the gentleman’s name.

Let the shenanigans begin!
The one thing we do know is that he was so unremarkable that Judas had to kiss him to pick him out in a group of four.
>> Oh please, nobody really knows what Jesus looked like.
Not true! Thousands of people know what Jesus looked like!
Except for Jesus himself, they’re all dead though, I’ll concede that.
Jesus was Jewish. Jews are not black, not even brown in the Old Testament.
