…Shouldn’t the first prominent American in our lifetimes to be martyred for his Christian faith on American soil have been a pastor? A theologian? Someone — anyone — from the church proper?
And yet, it was this 31-year-old “political operative” — a profession easily derided by some holier-than-though seminarians and pastors — that laid down his life for Jesus in such a shocking and gruesome way...
While reading 1 Peter in the New Testament, the answer to that question — why Kirk? — became obvious. The reason is because Kirk was a threat to the enemy — the real enemy. And the broader American church currently is not.

It’s true
Like the most people, most churches and clergy are scared to stand up to the leftist culture.
Even conservative churches are often keeping their mouths shut, just not to upset somebody.
Charlie was an exception, and he paid the price!
Charlie’s views were completely NORMAL. Up until about 25 years ago, 95% of the country shared all of Charlie’s views. Today, these NORMAL views are considered hateful, racist, bigoted and evil.
The Spirit of the Age is indeed demonic, and the churches have done next to nothing to fight it.
The weakness of the formal church, not Christianity.
I believe that the threat of revoking the tax exempt status of the church makes most of them hesitant to wade into the political/social arena. Which is unconstitutional on it’s face. The founding fathers NEVER meant for the state to have the power to silence the pastors in the churches.
I have been pleasantly surprised that I have seen more young families at my church over the past year. I don’t think it was because of Charlie Kirk but his death highlighted a move back to religion by a number of young people. I hope it holds up and is a sign of a revival. It was depressing seeing churches two-thirds empty and the people who did attend were over 50. The prosperity gospel, “pray for God to pay your mortgage” or “pray for God to open up a good parking space for you” church was spiritually dead.
I wrote an email to my local Catholic church asking why they didnt lower their flag for Charlie Kirk when everyone else in town did. 2 weeks later I got a reply. It was the janitor’s fault. Typical.
I just watched one of the best podcasts I’ve seen. It was on The Charlie Kirk Show today.
The first hour was an in-depth discussion of revivals throughout the world beginning with the martyrdom of Stephen — what factors triggered them, etc. The second hour was had to do with spiritual warfare, the duties of pastors, etc.
I think a lot of church leaders were envious of Charlie’s influence and fame.
Well Christianity in the US seems to be falling lately into two camps. Both way far from Christs mission on earth. One is all fire and brimstone Calvinist nonsense, the other is rainbow flag degenerate supporting leftism. Both are dead wrong.
I once attended what can be called a "mega church," with over 2,000 members in my city. It was a non-denom Bible church that was purportedly conservative.
When the sodomites began attacking our city over a police bar check at a gay bar misconstrued as a "crackdown" on gays, the City council was forced to address some issues of gay supremacy, including a non-discrimination ordinance for "transgenders" which was far-reaching.
Dozens signed up to speak at the Council meeting, which went well after 2:00 am. Speakers with at least 10 co-signers could have at least 15 minutes to address the council. My church, nor any of their representatives, were anywhere to be found to combat this insanity. I left shortly afterwards.
Big Religion has accepted billions of taxpayer money from Deep State over the decades.
Big Religion now serves Deep State and mammon.
"Jesus loves you," they are told profusely up front. They reply, "well, so do I! Jesus and I are on the same page!!"
Bingo. That's what I always ask leftists: "Who moved? Not us."
A solid majority of Democrats passed the Defense of Marriage Act, and it was signed into law by a Democratic president a little over 25 years ago.
I respectfully disagree with the churches being too into condemnation. At least from what I see in my neck of the woods in Alabama. The "fire and brimstone" (not all of it coming from Calvinist churches, sometimes it's from Armenian churches) talk is stated, but not usually front and center and not usually repeated frequently. IMHO it's a healthy balance of every now and then reminding us that there's a Hell, while also being a welcome mat for all sinners to come to now Jesus and learn a life of repentance.
But your statement about some churches being about "rainbow flag degenerate supporting leftism" is spot on. And fortunately they're hemorrhaging members. Or in the case of the United Methodists, losing entire local churches.
“The reason is because Kirk was a threat to the enemy — the real enemy. And the broader American church currently is not.”
False pretense
Is the writer looking for shootings at churches?!
Wacky article
Stupid article.
Charlie Kirk was a martyr. He preached freedom through Jesus.
He wasn’t a “political operative.” That’s an ignorant allegation.
