Community of (actual) Amish pick up and move building in New York. This was from a few years ago (2022), but did a search but didn't see it posted here even back them.
I recently bought an Amish made 12x24 shed. The quality of materials and craftsmanship is the best in the business. I shopped around far and wide and the price wasn’t much more than the cheap ones.
Who says a couple hundred guys canβt work together and move a building?
One has to ask a dumb question, why not construct it where it is to permanently be in the first place?
Communities better treat the Amish right... or they’ll just pick up and move...
Read the blurb under the video - it’s not a new building.
That's my question too. Maybe it was originally built on the wrong site and had to be moved. I've seen that happen with commercial buildings.
When you don’t have to pay for labor...
Thanks! Even I (the OP) missed that.

The top comment says they paid in pizzas, coffee, and volleyball :-)
I didn’t make my payments and they repossessed my house. I didn’t think they could do it.
Some government bureaucrats aren’t going to like this. And some a hole judge will order they move it back and await proper permitting
It takes a village....
What’s wild is an Orthodox Jewish friend visited the Amish in PA, and they were able to understand each other to a general degree. Many Jews speak “Yiddish,” based on German, and Amish speak Pennsylvanian German. A few of the Amish even spoke Hebrew! Amazing people.
That’s a shame, so sad to hear that. ππ
It’s a Yoder Family Heirloom.
And maybe they wanted it in a safer location because the surrounding buildings were getting close to collapsing ?
I’m just winging it after holding up the FR semi-tradition of not reading the article or watching the video.
Note: I didn't read it either but I did watch the video, so for all I know they may have explained why it was being moved. But watching the video I just had to ask why they didn't construct it where it was to be permanently. ππ€£
