Brigham Young University - owned by the Church of Latter-Day Saints- in Utah has removed fliers advertising resourceful pamphlets for LGBTQ students in welcome bags for news students.
The private college's administration said that it removed the pieces of resourceful information so that students could refer to its Office of Belonging, NBC News reported.
The brochures had details on regular LGBTQ events being held off campus, as well as local therapeutic resources, scholarship funding and mentorship. They were made by a non-profit called RaYnbow Collection, which is not school-affiliated.
Maddison Tenney, a LGBTQ student at BYU, revealed that she was the one behind the creation of the pamphlets after experiencing loneliness at the Mormon-influenced university.
'I remember sitting in my white dorm room with these cement walls and breaking down,' Tenney told the NBC News. 'I didn't know anyone who was like me, who wanted to be faithful and embrace the fullness of themselves.'
Students, however, are not allowed to interact in 'same-sex romantic behavior' or risk the chance of being unenrolled, according to Fox News.
he college already caused confusion over its rules on gay relationships in 2020 after it removed sections of its honor code pertaining to the topic, The Washington Examiner reported.
Tenney said she had a contractual agreement with BYU's students newspaper, Daily Universe, to assemble the welcome bags and that she paid $200 compulsory fee.
In total, the young woman gave out 5,000 pamphlets, describing them as 'very vanilla, very inline with church teachings.'
'We tried really hard to make sure it was kosher and in line with policy,' she told NBC News. 'We didn't hear anything back besides, 'It looks great'.'

The only reason an “LSMFT” would go to BYU is to disrupt and sue.
This is outrageous! BYU should be kicked out of the Big 12. /s
Cultural appropriation of the term aside, there can be nothing kosher about tolerating homosexuality. The tribe of Benjamin almost disappeared because they protected a gang of deviants who should have been put to death for their crime.
A rug muncher, is still a rug muncher
I’m no fan of LDS, but I hope they stand firm on this.
lol... “my white dorm room”...make sure that is mentioned in your law suit honey... Almost all colleges are guilty of that!... you can make a difference..../s
Likewise here. I am tired of religious universities rolling over for these people that have deviant lifestyles going contrary to denominational doctrine.
How hard is that to figure out?
Another horrible white girl.
Maddison Tenney, a LGBTQ student at BYU ...So this perv is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning all at the same time? Phew.
famous alumnus Mitt Willard Romney must be scolding his alma mater now
I have a better question.
Why did her Mormon parents send her there? I mean I’m sure they wanted her to be a good Mormon but after this you’d think the parents would yank her out and send her to a state school.
Even in Utah public education is teaching heresy.
In today’s ‘If it feels good do it’ society nothing is forbidden and children are indoctrinated at the earliest age to believe that any fantasy is a perfectly valid way to live their life.
Parents only have a certain amount of control over where you go to collage. They can refuse to pay but that is about it.
And with the student loans their refusing to pay has only a limited amount of leverage.
Well, the University of South Carolina isn’t going to play women’s basketball with BYU because of something supposedly racial that some fan of some side said at a Duke-BYU Volleyball game, so there! (It’s true, but are you now as confused as I still am?)
If her preference for females is a result of a terrible experience with a male, someone should find that reprobate and thrash him soundly.
This attractive lady does not fit the mold. I suspect she is going for the money in a lawsuit.
“I didn’t know anyone who was like me …”
She let the truth out of the bag there. Lesbians are about 0.8% of the population. Talk about tyranny of the minority. Their influence is ridiculously outsized.
Boo-fing-hoo!
I guess actually RESEARCHING where you were going to get your education was a wee bit too much work!
Spencer W. Kimball
"And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth." (Genesis 4:9-14.) That was true of murder. It is also true of illicit sex, which, of course, includes all petting, fornication, adultery, homosexual acts, and all other perversions. The Lord may say to offenders, as He did to Cain, "What hast thou done?" The children thus conceived make damning charges against you; the companions who have been frustrated and violated condemn you; the body that has been defiled cries out against you; the spirit which has been dwarfed convicts you. You will have difficulty throughout the ages in totally forgiving yourself."
-Prophet Spencer W. Kimball, "Love Versus Lust", BYU Speech January 5, 1965. Often-used quote still used today in LDS seminary classes.
"I do not find in the Bible the modern terms "petting" nor "homosexuality," yet I found numerous scriptures which forbade such acts under by whatever names they might be called. I could not find the term "homosexuality," but I did find numerous places where the Lord condemned such a practice with such vigor that even the death penalty was assessed."
- Apostle Spencer W. Kimball, "Love Versus Lust", BYU Speech January 5, 1965
"All of this should be conveyed without having priesthood leaders focus upon intimate matters which are a part of husband and wife relationships. Skillful interviewing and counseling can occur without discussion of clinical details by placing firm responsibility on individual members of the Church to put their lives in order before exercising the privilege of entering a house of the Lord. The First Presidency has interpreted oral sex as constituting an unnatural, impure, or unholy practice. If a person is engaged in a practice which troubles him enough to ask about it, he should discontinue it."
- Official Declaration of the First Presidency of the Church, January 5th, 1982
