Evangelist Franklin Graham doesn’t believe that the “vaccine passport” chip implant developed by a Swedish company is the mark of the beast described in the Bible but warns of what such technology could lead to in the future.
The 69-year-old son of the late evangelist Billy Graham posted a statement on Facebook Tuesday, commenting on the recent news that many Swedes are having microchips the size of a grain of rice implanted under their skin, storing COVID-19 vaccine passport information and other personal data.
Some have speculated online whether such microchips could be the “mark of the beast” described in the book of Revelation.
“The Bible tells us that in the end times there will be a one world system,” Graham, who heads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote. “Revelation 13:16-17 says, ‘Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark…’”
“Right now, a Swedish company has developed a ‘vaccine passport’ chip that is implanted under the skin and can be scanned. It could be required to enter restaurants or businesses, fly commercially, etc,” he continued. “I personally do not think this particular chip is the mark the Bible talks about, but it does make you think how close we may be.”
Graham is not opposed to vaccinations and believes getting vaccinated is “important and helps save lives.” But he believes political leaders have used the coronavirus pandemic “as an excuse to exert more and more control” since “many world leaders are still using COVID ... to lock down their countries.”
“Christians around the world are wondering if COVID-19 is being used as a way to condition the world population to accept a mark like this, whatever form it may take,” Graham added.
“If a scannable chip under the skin can contain vaccine information, adding other personal information and financial data could be a short step away. This may sound frightening; but people who have put their faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ, don’t need to be afraid. We should not live in fear. God told us what was coming in His Word. Make sure that your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life by repenting of your sins and putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ.”
The microchip, created by tech firm Dsruptive Subdermals, can store various data accessible through smartphones and other devices.
Thousands of people in Sweden have had chips implanted into their hands.
The chips are usually installed just above the thumb through a procedure that costs as low as about €100 euros (roughly $113).
However, concerns have been raised about privacy and what kind of personal health data will be stored on the chips.
Hannes Sjoblad, managing director of Dsruptive Subdermals, told AFP that chips allow people to communicate effortlessly with their devices. He contends that people should see chips as a form of identification rather than a “surveillance technology.”
This is not the first time that some have speculated if microchip implants could be related to the beast’s mark. After similar speculation was raised in 2017 after a Wisconsin-based company let employees get microchips implanted in their hands, Jerry Newcombe from D. James Kennedy Ministries warned about such conclusions.
“World leaders from Mikhail Gorbachev to Ronald Reagan have been falsely accused of being the Antichrist,” he wrote in an op-ed for The Christian Post. “And microchip fears have stoked prophetic speculations for years — but many biblical scholars note that Revelation is not pointing to some inadvertently-adopted technology, but is speaking symbolically of those who cast their lot with the opponents of Christ for societal approval.”

That sounds like a literal mark to me - not some figurative allegiance per the the last sentence in the excerpt.
The new medical “chips” being developed will alert you of a coming heart attack or stroke days before it happens and cancers years before it happens.
These will be the norm in a few years.
I remember the doom and gloom of dna testing 20-25 years ago-Mark of the Beast. Don’t know about Mark of the Beast but it sure has caught many old murders from 30 years ago and helped ID bodies.
I liked Billy pretty well. Franklin always disappoints me.

There are too many things missing yet.
We are well on our way there, but there are prerequisites that must be fulfilled first.
I wouldn’t want to have a chip implanted in me, because, while it may not currently be the Mark, it could all too easily be morphed into one.
Once you’ve accepted having the government or other agency insert a chip in your hand, you no longer have any valid religious objection to it.
Even if it’s not, it acts in the same way. They can make it so that you cannot buy or sell without it. You cease to become your own person intrinsically, and you are only what you are identified as.
I’ll bet good money that any democrat who thinks these are a good idea would be dead set against using them to identify legal voters though

He’s correct because the technology has not yet been implemented for this purpose. Heck, my vet wanted my pets to be microchipped back in the 90s. It isn’t new.
For MOTB to happen you need: a) technology to implement it as foretold in Scripture. This, we have. b) someone powerful enough to demand this to be done on a global scale. This has not happened yet. c) someone evil enough to bring a and b together. This will happen some day but it’s not here yet.
While it is one thing to consider civilized societies forcing citizens to be chipped or not be capable of buying and selling, there are many places around the globe that are not this advanced and would take a long time for the plan to be implemented. Many tribes still live off of dirt. Do you think they’d be willing to be part of this?
But it will someday come to pass. Keep your eyes open and your ears ready to hear.
He seems like a good man. But he needs to follow his dads lead and stay away from politically controversial subjects.

Well, he’s right... its NOT “THE MARK”... YET!
However, It’s certainly the trial run, which pretty much sets the PRECEDENCE for this to be accepted by mankind willingly.
It’ also a HACK into God’s creation, and is borderline on making recipients something “LESS THAN HUMAN”... Patent-able... and OWNABLE.
That is if it doesn’t just kill you first.
Until some leader says you must have them.

I don’t think Franklin Graham is saying there will be no such thing as the ‘Mark of the Beast’. He’s saying he doesn’t think what they have now is it.
This technology could be a precursor, but it isn’t implemented that way —i.e. to prevent people from buying or selling things — YET.
IT WILL BE IF WE ALLOW IT.
What is the mark? Is it physical? Spiritual? If you are a follower of Christ today it says we are sealed, can you show me that mark, right now?
Can you buy or sell now without money or credit?
The precursors to the Mark have been in place for a long time.

There are also other things that haven’t happened yet that need to, temple,rebuilt, Levi rpiests reinstated I beeive (though some say ther are folks studying to be these very priests today), rapture etc. Also,the beast will come on the scene doing false miracles, causing the word to be deceived, znd like you say it will be worldwide, and everyone Will be made aware of it
They are evil, but they are not the mark, at least not yet. Noone is being forced to worship the beast and give their lives over to the beast yet, but I do bekeive the chip is setting the stage for this to happen perhaps very soon, as folks without the chips will not be able to buy or sell, znd will become so desperate to do so that they will be eventually willing to sell their souls, especially to sell. Their souls to one who performs miracles znd has great power and is a world leader, just to get the chip to allow them to do so.

There is no reason at all for this to become such a pressing issue that it must be done. The only reason to push it as an absolute necessity now is to gain a precendented control. Over peoples lives.. sadly many who want “convenience” will accept it..
We have lived 1000’s of years without the technology, and Wil, get along just fine without it for 1000’s more, UNLESS it becomes an unconstitutional requirement in order to pursue happiness, and to buy and sell.
In a sense it is “taking a mark in order to buy and sell” but it is not the mark of the beast, not yet anyways, because Denouncing God and pledging allegiance to the beast and worshipping the beast is not a requirement ... yet 5hose things accompa y taking the mark of the beast. Taking the mark is a deliberate act of denying God, znd then worshipping the beast. That Wil, be the requirement for receiving it. Just as Muslim terrorists force their victims to denounce the true God, and then accept Islam, this is how the 3nd times will play out, with folks forced to do the same.
